1st flight on CardinalARC

Friday, off grass. CardinalARC @45 oz., with Saito .40, 11-5 APC scimitar (make that "finger guillotine"), tuned by ear (tach battery dead). Absolutely unbelievable power!

Flew forever on a 3 oz. tank of PowerMaster 20-20, with huge line tension. Enough that my hand/arm were completely exhausted following the single flight. Guesstimated 5 lb. line tension overhead; at least double that in level flight, with no engine or rudder offset. I have never had a plane with such outstanding line tension everywhere!

First trim adjustments will be reset elevator a bit (turns much tighter outsides), then some tailweight, then longer lines. Then ? ? ?
(Too many irons; not enough fire)

Congratulations, nice plane!!!
My 46 oz ARF Cardinal is powered by a plain bearing Stalker 46, very sweet combo, won his first contest last Sept in Madrid  #^. Against Yatsenko Stunters, piped stuff..... the Cardinal didnīt miss a beat!!!!!
Later will go a Tigre 46 just for comparing with the Ukranian in the air.

Ralph, might be beating a dead horse but if your Saito is a 40a and you haven't already, please read this whole thread...

It was quite an education for me on the Saito 40 and props...

Built a Cardinal ARF to use as a ST 46 test bed.. Great combination once I got the Cardinal flight trimmed.

Thanks, Bob. I believe I read this thread some time ago, but there is so much info that I can't assimilate all of it in one reading, nor in two of three flying sessions. As I mentioned, this was my first (successful) flight with a 4-stroke.

I did buy an APC 11-6 and 11-7, and will try them next week, just to see. And the tach will have a fresh battery, too!

Ya that thread does cover allot of ground but it really goes through the whole process from almost giving up on 4 strokes to having one of the best engines I have ever flown. Good luck and Merry Christmas..

It's not the airplane it's that hunk of aluminum and steel you hung on the nose  **)
