Swap Meets
« on: November 04, 2015, 12:22:47 PM »
There are several Swap Meets listed in the "Events" section. When I have conducted Swap Meets, I try to include as many RC clubs and fliers as possible....it not only increases revenue, but RC types sometimes have treasure to UC guys....

In NJ, we had a few "regular" vendors that attended....they were great sources for stuff that string fliers like and use, ranging from acid brushes to arrowshafts to finishing materials.

The RC guys all look forward to the GSCB event as they can find homes for their "obsolete" (at least to them) engines and props.

Don't shy away from RC Swap Meets, and if you are holding one, be sure to contact the local RC clubs.

Have fun!

Hi Rusty
I think that the facility in Indiantown, while being wonderful as a flying and contest site, doesn't have enough cover or tables to work...
I'll ask Len.....maybe the airport where he is building his 3/4 scale Mustang has space.

Thanks

One year our local RC club had a swap/sell meet schedule for our local Army Reserve gym.   Went out that say and building was locked up.   There were already several out of town people there in the parking lot.  Some had driven several hundred miles for the thing.   I had my stuff and we all got to talking and looking at what each other had.   Finally one of the club members happened to drive by on the way to the field.   Seems that organizer did not get what was in his mind was enough reserve tables and cancelled out.  Only those on his list knew about it.  I think I have been black balled from the club by an individual because I refused to rejoin after the club dues were raised from $25.00 a year to $100.00 with out a vote of the membership.  Even today I find out what little goes on from the other clubs in the area.

By the way those of us that were there that day went home happy because we managed to sell/swap a lot of stuff with out having to pay for a table.
