1968 big year
« on: June 10, 2018, 07:48:45 PM »
Thanks to Sparky the video he posted brought back memories.   One of which happened on June 8, 1968.   8 days later I was competing in Rat Race event at Richards-Gebaur Airbase.   The wife has put up with a lot.   As I said on the other thread only got to the NATS for one to visit.  Then I changed jobs and went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a frame man.   That was in October and had 9 days in when I totalled out a tow truck with my motorcycle.   Lucky for me the phone company put me back to work in April of 69 when the doctor cleared.   The rest is history and as I said the wife has been good to me as well as my LORD and Savior. D>K

The best men are my brothers and the young lady in front is wifes youngest sister.  The have gone to be with the LORD.   Yesterday evening was told to be home early from the F2D contest meet to get ready for dinner.   Daughter would not let me drive as her and others set up an anniversary celebration at her Church.   It was a big surprise for both of us.   So 50 years she has put up with my senaningons. Congratulations.  Not much hair for 1968, though.

Doc, I guess it must be the water, 'cause I've been married for one year and one day longer than you. We went to Lakewood (S. side of Tacoma) to our Grand Niece's HS Graduation, and the two of us went for Mexican food before the graduation ceremony. It turned out ok, apparently because the water was not imported.  :X Steve

Thanks Matt for insulting Willie Nelson.  I too couldn't believe I was that skinny and no hair.  Was asked to tell what the secret was to a long marriage.  I replied, I just ignored her most of the time.

Andre,  congrats on the 45.

Steve, we must have came from good stock.  Hope you too have many more years.

But, now I remember when I asked her Dad for marriage her Mother said it had to be permanent  as no returns.   Now it seems like yesterday and I try to remember the good times. H^^

Hi Doc,
Congrats on finding a woman that would put up with you for 50 years.  Sounds like '68 was both a good and bad year for you.  Me too!  Went to Vietnam 5 days before TET (Jan 10th) and was wounded in December.  Got a year ('69) in Hawaii out of it though...Not all bad!

All the best to You and your Wife, my friend!

Congratulations Doc. My wife and I just celebrated our 59th. I, like you, married a woman who has loved me through thick and thin. We were high school sweethearts. Hope you two have many more. May God continue to bless you both.

Congrats to you and yours.   Would you believe I promised my future Father-in-law if she didn't graduate there would be no wedding.  Knew him long before I met her. D>K
