1960´s Brazilian Instrutor Model with Diesel Engine
« on: April 11, 2019, 07:00:44 AM »
One year ago i payd a visit to long lasting hobbyshop Casa Aerobras to say hi to Fernando, the legendary seller that sold my first control line kit back in 1984 and still works there. In fact he´s working there for 50 years now! Much to my surprise he gave me a WB 2,5 diesel engine mfg in Brazil in the 60-s .
Immediatly i said that i wish to build a plane for it, so he dig a plan of the Instrutor, this was a popular kit in the 70´s made by Aerobras. along the plan he gave me the ribs set as well. Last week i made the maiden flight and after that visit Fernando again to lend the model to be exposed on the Aerobras shop.
here´s the pictures

Engine start was a pain as i had no previous knowleadge with diesels, but a very experienced friend helped and put it to good work.
the flight was easy and the model incredibly stable with the assimetrical airfoil

Very neat looking model.   Reminds me of the early Veco kits. H^^

Thanks Dane, i am really fortunate to payd my homage to Fernando and Casa Aerobras, he was the one who put me into this hobby just being a nice person and dedicated seller. He opened the box of my frst kit at the balcony, made a run-through pointing things, adding stuff that i would need and telling tips and advices. Really old fashion salesman!

Fred,

I know you have someone for graphics and they do an excellent job.

I can help you out with graphics at no charge.

You're a great person, an excellent modeler, and we both miss Marcus.

I should have offered this to you long ago.

   Hi Fred;
      Very nice work, and really great way to honor your friend and mentor. Next time back at the shop, take and post some pictures of all the vintage models on display. Tell your friend that t here is great interest in those here, and we don't get to see too much of that neat old stuff, even if there happens to be a hobby shop in the area!

     You mention your bad economy, but since you are close to the source for balsa, is it any less expensive in your country than what we are experiencing here? Any shortages? Just curious in what makes the world go round elsewhere.

    Thanks a lot, and good luck to you,
