Nats Intermediate starting time
« on: July 09, 2019, 01:10:31 PM »
I’ve not been able to find when I need to be on site to sign up for Intermediate. My memory isn’t good enough to remember last year! I’m guessing I should be safe if I’m on site by 8am but don’t want to be late.

Thanks, Matt

Matt here is the email about Beginner from Mike Stinson I know this has no info on Intermediate but they are run on circles right next to each other and usually start around the same time. Hope this helps.

First things first, this year, Ross Roberts has generously volunteered to fill in for me running Control Line Beginner Stunt at the NATS.  I greatly appreciate this and hope everyone will help him in any way they can.

We would like to invite you to the 2019 NATS for Beginner Control Line Stunt Contest on Sunday, July 14, 2019.  There will both the Jr/Sr (for teens) and Adult levels.  If someone wishes to fly yet has not mastered the Beginner Pattern, there is "Basic Flight".  I can send you the Basic Flight Pattern Sheet for you to prepare.  Each contestant will get a Certificate and the winner of each level will get the traditional “Eagles Nest Trophy” to take home.  There should also be Award Plaques from the AMA for at least the top three in both groups.  At the end of the event, there are always plenty of “prizes” to choose from.  There will be kits, engines, fuel and many other items to choose from.  These items are donated by both businesses and individuals that support Control Line Stunt and wish it to continue to grow.

Although this is NOT an official AMA event, the AMA requires that each Contestant, Pit Person (mechanic) Volunteer register with them at the main building.  All Contestants must be an AMA member and will need their 2019 AMA Card with them at registration.

Practice will start at 7 am on the grass circle.  Registration will be 8 am.  For adults, there will be a $10 registration fee.  For Jr/Sr Contestants, this fee is waived.  The Pilot Meeting will be held at 8:30 am.  Official flights will start about 9 am.

All Models must have your AMA Number displayed.  All models will be weighed and pull tested to AMA standards.  All handles will need a Safety Thong and Contestants will use them while the model is in motion.  Electric Models will be held until motor is up to speed and Contestant signals to release.  There will be up to three attempts for two Official Flights with a 6 minute limit for each flight.  The Beginner Pattern and rules are available on the AMA web site.

We will take pictures of each contestant with his model before the flying starts and of both the group and winners with models after the flying is over.  After the awards, we will make the prizes available for Contestants to choose with the Jr/Sr going first, then adults.

As always, these items are donated.  If you have any items that will help a Beginner Stunt Flyer, they would be greatly appreciated.  You can bring them to the contest or get them to me.  If you are able to put a label on them with your name and contact information, it would make things easier.  If you are a Contestant, it is important that you reach out to the person that donated the item to let them know that the donation is appreciated.

Also, we still need volunteers for sign in, weigh in, pictures, pull test, runners judges, a “pit boss” and perhaps an Assistant to help run the “Three Ring Circus”.   I will also need help organizing the donated items and awards.  If you are able to help, please contact me.

Thank you,

Ross Roberts

Thanks Mike!
I’d say you’re correct on same starting times.

Ross I'm suppose to help with whatever help you need in Beginner. I think last year I did a lot of weighing and pull testing. Kathleen is going to help too, don't know if she is doing intermediate or beginner. I guess whichever has the most need.
