For some reason I had this as the 21st which is my daughters wedding day. Maybe i can make it after all. I would hate to see you just walk away with that trophy unchallenged <=
Hope to see you there

Oh no! I had already dusted off the mantle and had spent hours deciding just where to put it! Last time I spent all this effort getting the mantle ready and Gary dashed my hopes .... :'(

Yes, we will have a grill going again this year at our Lorton Virginia field. There are no plans to charge for food. Last year I ran the grill. The folks were hungry and issued no complaints.
The event was discussed in detail at our organizational meeting last night.
Things are looking good. Both circles have been mowed close every week, we have a list of folks we'd like to have serve as judges, etc.

Camping at Pohick Regional park JUST down the road from your site. By your contest time we will be in Mass.
Just missed your contest.
-
Just drove over to your site. Took me a pass or two to realize you go in through the trailhead area. When you fly you must have a key for the gate.
Hiked back there. It must be fun when the wind blows.
Wish we were here long enough to be there. Have fun all!

What a pity, but all is not lost, you still have time to double back to California for the Famous fox 15 Hurl!
Mr BYU, it is indeed to far to commute to your Hurl fest.
Let me know how far YOU hurl it!🤣
-
You just missed us. Scott was flying today, and Scott, I, and others will be there tomorrow.

I went flying today and noticed that the BLM folks had spent a bunch of effort to smooth out the access road. There had been a bunch of areas where use and water had rutted it badly. That is now fixed.
They also bush-hogged the areas surrounding the circles so the place is looking really good for the contest.
Big thanks to the BLM!

Will the field be open Friday
What time??

We'll likely have a combo of flying and getting the field ready for the contest (painting some lines on the field.) I happen to know the grass of the South circle was mowed Saturday. What time are you thinking?
thanks,
Peter
-
Phil,
I will be there, and looking for a rematch on that first place old time trophy #^ #^
-
We'll be doing some mowing on Thursday but won't mow the north circle until Friday after the grass dries so we get a good, low cut. In any case, I'll get there on Friday starting around 10 a.m. and be there until 2 or 2:30 p.m. flying, mowing, and striping the field. Usually by then out- of-towners arrive and can fly until sunset. After that, it is their responsibility to close and lock the gate. This procedure has worked perfectly fine in the past.

Field is ready. Local folks and guests had a good practice for the contest tomorrow.
