12v 17 Ah battery --- now to reduce the Ah?

So I found a 12 v 17 Ah battery. I think the Ah is too much for my flight box.

Is there a way I can put a resistor in line some place to get the Ah down to 7?

You've got wrong.

The AH (amp hours) is how long the battery will last.  Nobody wants or needs to reduce that.

The power panel will get the 12 volts down to the 1.5 to 2.0 volts your glow plug wants.

The Ah rating of a battery is how much energy is in the battery, not the voltage.  A car battery is like 45- 80Ah.    17Ah usually means it will put out 17amps continually for 1 hr without  the voltage dropping.  Some are /10hr rate than /hr.  IE 1.7A for 10 hrs.  So the only problem with a battery that big is the weight.  The voltage will stay the same, and will work the same as a small one.  The 17 Ah battery will be a lot bigger and weighs more than the 7Ah.  A 3-8 Ah battery is all you need for your starter.

You need to reduce the lb , not the Ah so you arm will say AHHHHHHH

Simplisticly,

Voltage is the equivalent of how high a waterfall is. (potential energy) Amps are the equivalent of how wide, deep and long the river heading to the falls is. "C" rating (if you are dealing with LiPo's) is the the equivalent of the maximum flow rate of the river. You never have to deal with the number of amps unless you have too few to last for the required duration. (amps only flow as your application asks for them) You always have to supply the correct number of volts. If you try to take too many amps too fast for the "C" rating (max draw rate) you will damage the battery.

Volts x Amps  = Watts                     Watts = WORK or Horsepower

What are you useing this 7 ah batt for ?
weather you use a car battery with 50 ah's or a 7 ah's to light 1 12 volt car light<ie body light> the only difference is how long the will be lit for.

I found out the hard way that a dome light will drain a battery in less than 8 hours.   That is when I got my first Die-Hard in the old Ford Fairlane 2 Dr Hard Top 1964.
