All,

I have had multiple request for my 1/2A Tsunami Plans and I have finally had a chance to draw them up. I am happy to send you a free PDF that you can have scaled at any local print shop. I can also provide full size plans for 20 bucks shipped to you, just send me a PM.

One addition to the plans that I forgot to draw, please add 1/4 inch balsa wing tips to each tip rib

If you have any questions just drop me a note.

Guys,
I received my copy earlier today...thanks Mr. Stagg! I was slack-jawed when I saw this plan.
Mr. Stagg allowed me the opportunity to post this one in his behalf elsewhere. I hope to park it on CEF, but CEF requires membership to get the the Member's only section where PDFs go. Another place it could go is on OZ...that is the second place I can park it, but to takes a few weeks to get it scrubbed of metadata (for the submitter's protection) and branded as an OZ file. OZ still gives credit to the designer. I will submit with the pictures from this thread, and have the OZ operator indicate this thread as the source and proof that it is Mr..Stagg's file. The last place is on the StuntHanger FB page in their files section.

Mr. Storick, is there any connection between StuntHanger.com.and SH-FB? I've seen some familiar names over there. That last option is only moments from happening, but I'd hate to do it unless there is some connection between here and there for fear of creating competition with this site.

In the meantime, I'll see how much the original file my be reduced, or converted. There is a scale on the page, so converting to JPG may still allow for size reduction with the only requirement to be scaling up a print job.

I'll keep watching how this plays out here, and will share as I move it elsewhere.

Mr. Stagg, and all,

I saved the file as Adobe 9.0 and later compatible and got it squished down. Let's see how this works for all.

Dennis, the design just doesn't need them, it turns well and locks in after the turn. this keeps the model simple to build and lighter.

The design is a reduced model of my larger Tsunami which does have flaps, I just picked a wingspan I wanted and reduced everything by that percentage.....and by just dumb luck, ended up with a great flying little plane.

you could always add flaps if you like, I just never saw a reason too after flying it. I flew the airplane at Brodaks 1/2A competition in 15-20 MPH winds and it even flew well during that. I won first place.

They were actually drawn in solidworks about 8 years ago by a friend of mine.....not sure if those files still exist. I will have to look around, i do have printed copies that could be reproduced.

My plan for this winters project is to build another with some minor design changes and maybe a composite fuselage and a foam wing to make it simpler to build, the original had a very different construction method with a lot of molded 1/16 fuse skins over a stick and bulkhead fuse structure.

Your very nice profile 1/2A Tsunami has inspired me to do an .061 version of the 716 sq. in. Precision Aerobatic Tsunami that Chris Rud and I designed 5 years ago. My Baby Tsunami will be a full fuselage, full flap stunter for .061 engines. The airplane is aimed at high level stunt competition in 1/2A. The Baby Tsunami will have a 33 3/4" wingspan and 235 square inches of wing area.
Again, your .061 Tsunami is a nice airplane.

Tim, You do excellent work. Cant wait to see it. I'm also looking forward to building another ST.60 size Tsunami, but i want one that has a more scale like appearance than my current Windy Urtnowski design. 😁

The Tsunami PA airplanes have never been released because they are designed for molded balsa parts. The leading edge, the top and bottom of the fuselage. I have a glow version done. We have not built the molds for the molded balsa. I think all the mold parts are drawn for laser cutting. I sell full size .pdf files of all my airplane plans for $5.00 per set. You could strip plank the fuselage, I think the leading edge would have to be molded. The airfoil is NACA0020 modified to be 21% thick.

Now, do I paint the wave on it???

I was thinking, a decal sheet with all the markings would be nice. I have almost all of them cleaned up and in a digital format.

George, I plan on building another 1/2a Tsunami some time in the near future, and may try using decals, at that time i can make up a full sheet and share them to anyone that wants them.

Callie Graphics can do all your art into vinyl decals. But not sure if waterslide is available.

Certainly a crafty person can scale up or down then use a Hobby Lobby Testors water slide for inkjet semi expensive sheets. They absolutely need to be "Fixed" once on and dry...."Fixed" means fuel proofed

Good Idea Fred. I Know Charles here on the forum does good work too.
You know, with all the balsa going to wind turbines, its making more and more sense to build smaller planes. And I also have an extra TD 049 without a home since the 051 now sits in Tsunami, so I'm already thinking of building another one.

Fred, I will go with the same plank type wing. Except i want it to look closer to the real Tsunami's wing shape
