1/2A Pathfinder Stunter
« on: August 16, 2006, 05:43:41 AM »
Ok guys,

Here it is, my latest... The fuse, tail and flaps are doped & painted. The wing is covered with Coverite 21st Century Microfilm. The trim on the wing and tail is a combination of things. ie Solarfilm, Monokote & Profilm. The engine is a Norvel Big Mig 061. The weight is around 12 oz.

I hope you like it...

Nice plane

I am in the process of building one now.  I have the fuse, tail, and flap finished.  The wing looks a little tough as I never built one like it.  I too hope mines comes out as nice as yours.

Hi guys,  Thanks for the feedback.

Jay if you need any help with that wing feel free to post your questions here, just let us know.  The only difficult bit to the wing is cutting out the spar. (i think it's called a millenium spar??) Anyway, you build that piece then attach the ribs then lay it on the plans with the leveling bar in place and line everything up before glueing the leading and trailing edges in place. Glue the ribs to the spar last.  The plans dont show where to place the leveling bars. I placed the just in front of the trailing edge which is whate you do for most Brodak kits I have built.

If you want it to be light ie under 12oz, make sure you cut out the fuse, tail and flaps as shown on the plan.

Cheers
Warren

Hey Warren!

What type/size/length lines are you planning on flying it with? It kinda looks big enough to fly on light cables..BTW ....Very nice job!

Hi,

Thanks!  I'll start off on .012 x 50's and see how I go... I have been recommended by others to use between 45 and 50'.  I have a set of 45 lines too.  Will probaly run the motor in tonight or tomorrow and give it a fly on Saturday. Weather permitting of course.  My wife will probably take some pics of it flying so next shot you see could be good. Will keep you informed.

Cheers

Hi all,

I think I'm in love! I just finished running in my first NEW Norvel 061 for the first time. ( I have 5 of these but have never run them)  Man these engines are sweeit! I followed the instructions and took the glow head off first and added some castor oil then flicked it over more than 100 times as stated. Then I fueled it up, opened the needle 2.5 turns, primed it, attached battery and it started 4th flick!  A very nice smooth runner and it didnt miss a beat.  I just need to run a few more tanks through it tomorrow.  I can't wait to fly this thing now.

Come on Saturday!

Cheers
