Hello,
I am very much a pilot in training and looking to speed up the process. I'm looking at getting the 1/2A Oriental from Brodak that's been buffed up by John Paris.
The idea is to use my backyard neighbors spare lot with the plane set up for electric. I can walk out my back door and be flying in 5 minutes.
One concern is, is will I have enough room? The lot is big, as in I walked my Banshee on 60 foot lines around it and had 5 feet of clearance between houses. This was much too tight. What line length is needed for this model?
Thanks for the help,
Al

It's 1/2A...I'd be testing 42' lines. I flew a Scientific P-40 with AP .061 on 38' lines (24" WS, almost 8 oz...a real porker). I would have liked to try a bit longer lines, but lost the plane one morning. Frankly, I'd be nervous with only 5' before "crunch."
PS...I envy your proximity to any flying field...especially just outside your backdoor!

Al,
I have flown my electric version on 42' lines (Spectra 15lb) with good luck. Depending on how much you wander it sounds like the back yard will be a good place. You can always put a marker down and stay close to it.
Good luck.

Saw the prototype at Brodak’s; cool looking ship, should do the job for you!
