Title: 10 kilometer range with FPV.
Post by: Paul Smith on June 03, 2016, 06:22:25 AM
I got a catalog that included a table top RC controller with a full size aircraft joystick and throttle lever.  In the middle is a stand for your First Person View screen.

Here's the clincher:  available in 2.4G with a ONE kilometer range or 433M with a TEN kilometer range.

This is weapons-grade stuff.  And something for the government to get really serious about.

There isn't much terrorist of spy value in a toy that operates within 1000 feet of the pilot in line of sight.  But selling stuff with a ten K radius is the real deal.

I hope AMA clearly disavows any involvement with this technology.

our laws require that we maintain line of sight with anything being flown FPV so the extra distance is pretty much technically worthless,

well for law abiding persons anyway

10Km may be "short sighted," aim for 50Km.  Video and data link may be limiting, but then just trigger autopilot and return to launch GPS readings.  No, not suggesting it, just noting that the technology is readily available.

They sell Multi-rotor aircraft with autonomous GPS control with up to 50 way points. As I have said in the past, that is a "Fire and Forget" weapon!

There are some old youtube videos of high altitude FPV, the lower ones are from above the clouds, a couple are from weather balloon launches.

Crazy.
