Well some are making do.  When I was dating I’d pick up my date in my 66’ Impala or 70’ souped Riviera.  When my daughter’s BF comes to get her (and the grandson) he comes in the Cirrus Vision or the helicopter.....and I get driving duty to the airport.

No John but was offered to go with them whenever.  They spend a lot of time on a polo ranch in North Carolina.  It looks like it would be a great flying field....... probably scare the hell out the ponies. Mark is a pilot for a guy that owns an oil company in Africa.  The owner loves the grandson and wants to take him to Africa sometime.  They are off to London this weekend (Gulfstream 650) so the kids will be coming home.  Maybe I'll go later after I retire.

Right. It's an exercise in how vicious and mean-spirited you can be, preferably at The Commissioner's expense.

You're breakin' my heart, Bob - I had a 1957 A way back when, it would be a retirement plan now!  (Along with my '57 Chevy ragtop.)  Just how non planning and stupid can a young guy be?!

Lovely car. A 1500 if I'm not mistaken and as beautiful as the Healey 100/4.

Jerry,

Your grandmother was correct.  My dad used to recite this little jingle: "A thousand Swedes ran through the weeds chased by one Norwegian."

Here's one I wish I still owned.  Bought it in Dec. 1954 right off the dealer's showroom floor. Still has dealer's I.D. on windshield in lieu of a license plate.   Kept it until 1961.
90 years, but still going (mostly)

Hind sight. Had a 42 "45" Flat Head Harley when I was in high school. Sold it. Had a 55 black and white Crown Vic when I got out of high school and started to work. A long list of specialty cars bought and sold.

Really wish I still had the Harley. It was a blast to ride. Hand shift and foot clutch. But when you are raising four kids you can not keep everything.

Other honorable mention. 59 T Bird,  59 Chevy convertible, two 57 Chevy's, 62 Olds Jetfire factory turbocharged, and a 65 Chevy Super Sport. Several motorcycles over the years.

I bought my wife an 86 Volkswagon cabriolet convertible new in 86. The special white one.

The ultimate, of course, was the 54 Buick Special Hardtop Convertible.  Dynaflow, of course, not many of those left today, but, I had one for my high school and college days. Naugahyde seats and a Superhetrodyne radio. Danged ol' wrap around windshield. Little square tail fins always reminded me of B-25.

Show stopper when Linda Bob drove it...she enjoyed runnin' down Harleys and passing them. Oh! Failed to mention the oil bath air cleaner...it was loaded.

An air conditioner would have been nice....and power steering....

Polo fields look great, but they are full of deep divots from the horses hooves that catch your landing gear. Don’t ask how I know......

Eddie Murphy in Pluto Nash. He paid his hotel bill on the moon in Hillary bills. Can't remember the bill denominations. Maybe in $10,000 or $100,000 notes.
