Nobody will forget where they were that day, and we'll never forget.  I myself don't remember anything from that day since I was in 2nd grade, but I talk about it a lot.

Gone but not forgotten.

I am shocked and disappointed that so little is being said today about that horrible day. The only in depth coverage is on the History Channel.

My father was in Police Emergency, NYPD. His squad lost people on 9-11.

I have pledged to myself that all my future airplanes will have a reference to 9-11

My "JD Falcon" has a picture of a flag that was taken at ground zero. The dark background is not clouds, it is soot in the air.  The "E2" is for Emergency Squad #2. My Sea Vixen will have "911" on the nose.

Neal Beekman. who frequents the forums, comes from a New York Fire Dept Family. His father was FDNY and Neal was also FDNY. Neal volunteered and worked at ground zero after that tragic day. (I hope Neal doesn't mind me mentioning this.)

I pray that an event like this never happens again.

The world changed that day for all of us, even if one was fortunate enough to not experience a personal loss.

Terrorism was something that affected other countries. Now we need to be viligant to prevent another tragedy.
Look at current airport security. Remember when you didn't have to take your shoes off to get on an airplane?
Concrete barriers around federal buildings and metal detectors. Homeland Security.

Yes, there were and are reasons to forget the immediate fears and reactions, in order resume our lives and not
let the terrorists win. But not to forget the tragic losses of that day and the continuing effects on the families,
heroic rescue teams and emergency responders.

At work, we jumped when Air Force Jets scrambled from a local airbase here in MA. One of my co-workers lost her
mother-in-law on flight 175. Back in NY, one of my friend's older brothers is a fireman who responded to emergency
calls at the World Trade Center.

God bless the USA.

Note! This is my opinion...I believe that the whole world held its breath, as to what was going to be the reaction of the US to 9/11. If every military, leader, oil refinery, capitol and major industry in the Middle East was eliminated (destroyed) by either nuclear or conventional weapons..."After the fact," Not one!...repeat...Not one! Remaining super power would have done more than issue a formal (but sheepish) protest. If 9/11 had happened shortly after WWII...Truman would have had Paul Tibbets fly again. No doubt in my "Military mind."  :'(

NORM, I do like your thinking. Back in the late '50s and early '60s I stood almost 1/2 my life on alert in B-47s all loaded to go. I was ready to go then and would now if they would let me. Just had a big physical, stress test, etc., and the doc said I was trying to put him out of business.  ;D  Nearing 74, I think I could manage it. Gimme' a B-47 and a Mk. 36-1 or 39-2 (yield 25 megatons TNT each) or a just a couple Mk 28 R-Is (small - only 1 megaton each)  and we could get their attention.  #^  %^

I posted my response over on the SSW site.  Be glad I was not in charge.  I would have pulled all US personal out of the areas.  Then would have told all the air forces(Navy, Marines, Army and Air Force) to put use what they were taught.  But, that is not the US way and will not be until we get united again.  It is like the old slogans of pasts gone by.  Remember the Alamo.  Remember the Maine.  Yes some of you are not old enough to remember these sayings as I grew up.  Read about our young men getting slaughtered in Korea, Viet Nam and now Iraq.

I hope I am not too political on this.  But, that is my thought right now and will never forget 9-11.  Almost forgot, My granddaughter says it is not 9-11, but, 9-1-1,  I just looked at her and she didn't say any thing elsr for a change.  DOC Holliday
