"Over the Pond" model magazine?

Well, I've been getting all my model magazines together, organizing for the big sale.

I'm hoping to turn some of them into cash for other stuff.

I certainly gravitate towards sports cars "Over the Pond," and I guess it's the same with model magazines.

I have quite a bit of "Over the Pond" modeling magazines that go back to the late 80's to the early 90's.

Anyway, maybe it's me, but Aero Modeller surly seems to be one of the best.

My opinion only.

So, what magazine is your favorite? Doesn't have to be an "Over the Pond" magazine.

Aero Modeler was excellent, all right. My T/R partner read it religiously, in the '70s thru '80s. I shared it...

But my favorite was Model Builder. (also subscribed to Flying Models) Model Builder just seemed like what I was 'doing'.

I ordered their scalpel set, 'Uber Skiver'...Bill Northrup's wife, Anita, has a brother in Cambodia that owns the factory. My 'right-hand' in modeling tools.

I very much liked Aeromodeller.  It went through some rough patches in the 1990's and issues varied a lot in focus and content. My real favorite was the early Flying Models which had a number of plans; a small drawing with dimensions, and pages with full size drawings of the curvy parts.  Flying Models today is the best of the USA general model airplane magazines.

Over the years, I have had access to various magazine collections and have copied "some" material on selected subjects to fill a "few" binders. I have possessed or had access to all of the issues since the mid 40's of Model Airplane News, Flying Models, the evolutions of Air Trails to Model Aviation publications. Model Builder, Aeromodeller. a few issues of the British magazine somewhat similar to Aeromodeller called Model Aircraft.  For a short period, I also had access to a few magazines from Europe.  I have kept a drawer full of selected magazines of what I consider some of the more important and/or interesting articles.  That drawer includes most, if not all of the Air Trails Annuals, all of the Model Airplane News Annuals and my library shelf holds all of the Aeromodeller Annuals (1948 through the 78/79 issue). That shelf also holds other Aeromodeller handbooks that were published in the 50's/60's.

Aeromodeller is one of my all-time favourite publications in any genre. I just bought a collection spanning 1983-1997 inclusive and have been reading a handfull of issues every day since. This timeframe covers most of my time as an aeromodeller and has the most useful technical articles in my events.

The only gripe about Aeromodeller was how many (to me) pointless sports FF and CL trainers they covered. And other marginal or non-contest stuff like rockets, early electrics, RTP and vintage. Obviously other readers would gladly trade CL racing and stunt articles for more of that stuff, but I always just wanted to see more contest reports and tech articles.

I like Aero Modeler, and have a few whih contained subjects I found very interesting.

But I think my all time favorite was early American Modeler and American Aircraft Modeler.


The '50s and '60s were my most favorite period for all model magazines, every month there was one, or more, articles on stunters!
