"Mr. Take away"
« on: December 25, 2013, 11:03:16 AM »
Well, here it is Christmas, just past mid day.

Christmas day or not, I actually grouted a shower this morning, yes, I can do that, and found time to draw a bit more on one of my model designs. Yes, they are my designs.

My wife, Paula and I, exchange Christmas cards as usual and we chat about a Christmas gathering and dinner tonight with some friends. Yes, I'm looking forward to it, we have great, almost life long, friends.

Paula and I also share words that reflect our previous Holiday experiences and the conversation is generally about those we cannot be with or family members we no longer have in our lives.

The interesting thing about Holidays, as you get older, there are fewer members of your family around to share the Holiday with you. Yes, for us, a sad thing.

Those kind of losses are severe, really severe.

So, you think about those love ones that are no longer in your life, I know we do.

Everyone remembers those they have lost in their own unique or special way of remembering.

Which BTW, brings to memory, my Dad.

My Dad, a really, really smart individual. Hey! where do you think I get it!

My Dad left me with an unusual "treasure" as a child and I never stop thinking about this treasure each and every time I think of my Dad, especially at Christmas.

Yes, Dad made sure I believed in Santa, I probably still do. Don't we all become Santas?

Well, the reason I was blessed with an unusual treasure, was because my Dad, obviously he brought me Santa, that jovial guy that brings you all the goodies you desire as a child. Well, almost.

But in my case, my Dad also made sure there was another side to the Santa story. A side not to many people even know about.

This was, "Mr. Take Away."

After Santa's visit, I had to be nice, really nice and really good.

Exceptionally, because if I didn't, Mr. Take Away, as I was lead to believe, would visit in the wee hours of the night and "take away" my toys.

Having to worry about Mr. Take Away, a horrible belief to bestow upon a child, you say?

Certainly makes you think twice about being naughty.

I think my Dad was on to something.

My Dad would never take any thing back,  neither would Mom.   But, at our gatherings which seem to grow each year start with Christmas eve on into Christmas day.   Yes there are those that have gone in the previous year, but then there are the new ones that seem to out number the ones that have left to a better place.  There are a few tears and then the smiles plus laughter over take us.  Now I hope your Christmas was merry and I hope to see a finished plane this coming year.   On my end I hope to fly the ones I have finished.

John,

My favorite Poster.

Thanks for the reply.

Sure, I'll get something finished, probably the Mig-3 or The New American. The New American is further along so that model may get finished first. The Mig is more fun.

I'm busy drawing these new designs, the Gee Bee R3, The International and I don't know what I'll call the third, but all three will be for electric power. I want to send all drawings to the laser cutter at the same time.

Getting all these parts ready is no different than producing a kit and it's time consuming.

You must have a ton of stuff to fly?

You got anything electric?

I have an electric twin RC toy I fly once in a while.  Then I also haven't flown RC for over 3 years.

I can identify with Doc Holliday.  As I age, my family numbers seem to increase.  I attribute that strange result due to more grandkids than previously.  Our own Christmas dinner had 11 persons.  My wife cooked stuff for 2 days! (all veggie dishes)

God, my first marrage, my mother-in law actually called me Peter Pan. She nailed it!  ;D

Gotta tell ya John, if we were neighbors and lived in Brazil, life might be a bit easier, especially having a modeler with a laser cutter.

Marcus and his crew are lucky.

Hey! Hey!

Off topic, but it doesn't matter where we live.  It is how we live.  I miss being on the farm that I was glad to get away from when Dad passed away.  Keep thinking what would it have been if I had tried harder.  But, life has been good to me, even though some Christmas' were a little sparse under the tree.  But Christmas is for the kids and grandkids. HAPPY NEW YEAR
