"Meet me in St. Louie"
« on: February 23, 2007, 08:27:22 AM »
"Meet me in St Louie, meet me at the fair" goes the line to a song popular over a hundred years ago. Well I am a hundred years too late for the fair, but I am not to late for the Ice-O-Lated meet and I will be there. If you are there I want you to make it a point to introduce yourself to me. I will be easy to spot as I will probably be the only one there wearing blue denhim bib overalls. I will be the one with the camera annoying people by wanting to get a picture of them and their plane. I will put the pictures on line in a photo album, so don't miss your chance for 15 seconds of fame. Actually there are four of us from this immediate area (SE Kansas SW Missouri) that are going to be there so just look for the "Three Stooges" plus one alternate. I think I am the only one who has ever entered or even been to a CL contest and I will not be flying this time. Looks like you all have to wait to se my famous maneuver called the wavering wing over ending in a vertical landing. It is the one where I start a panicky wingover from real low and then waver back and forth deciding whether to pull out inverted or upright until I end in the vertical landing. When I do it I only do it once a day.

Keith,
Here in Chicagoland your "vertical landing" is known as a "lawn dart" landing  n~. A couple of us Chicagoland Circle Cutters hope to make it to the Saint Lewie contest. The weather reports are not too promising but we still plan on braving the elements. Hope to see you there.

Hey guys, y'all don't know just how much I would love to be there (or at any other contest) any time soon! ;D

But, the really, really great news is that it is only about 2 more years until I have the choice as to whether to continue this *Profession* I am presently in.  I will be "fully vested" in my retirement (or retardedment as it may become) , and there is no monetary reason to continue.

Then it just *might* be a case of "Watch out World"!!!!!! **) **)

Be afraid Paul, Ted, David, Brett, Bobby, Billy, Randy, etc., ................... be very afraid!!!!!!!!!

Just a lil history note here. The song Meet Me In St. Louis is only 67 years old now.  The only reason I knew that is I knew the fellow that wrote that song.  His name was Ralph Blaine and until his death in 95 or 96 lived in Broken Arrow, Ok.  He also wrote Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and many other Broadway Musicals. Ok, thats my history lesson for today.  Have a good time and be safe.

Keith and Dennis,

We are looking forward to seeing you again at Ice-O-Lated on Sunday!  The weather looks like it may be uncooperative though.  Drive carefully and we will see what Mother Nature has in store for us Sunday the 23rd.   ???

I guess the grandaughters and I will still go even tho the weather doesn't look that good on the map.  Still have to remember what dad always said about Missouri weather,  "If you don't like what you have now, wait a couple of hours".  Besides, I promised the girls and I guess I missed a good one last year because I was afraid of the weather.  DOC Holliday
