Well,

I finally got my new "United VI" which will be powered by one of Randy's great PA 75 RE on a pipe, in primer. Here are a couple of shots I thought I'd share with ya'all.

Cheers,

Hey, come out and fly with us, too.  It's a long drive, too, but there's nice scenery.

Yes it is Robert and it was to powered by a "Big Jim ST60", but, since I could not ever make the deadline we converted it to a PA75. This means I added a 1/2" to the bottom of the sides to get the pipe in and I took part of the bottom block which was already shaped and hollowed and cut that in front of the landing gear blocks and made that part of the cowl. To do that I spliced in 3 1/16" pieces of ply just in front of the vents on the bottom block and got what you see now. I'll have to take a picture of the bottom to show you. Gotta work a bartending job tonight at the VFW with my father-in-law so maybe I'll get to it tomorrow.
I started to sand the primer on the wing tops and this is definitely the part I'm not crazy about. It's just a lot of work as you are aware. Not my favorite part of the project. I love the building part and then the end with the painting which really makes it become a work of art. Now if I can only learn to put on "Less Paint" I'll be OK.

Talk with you soon. Yours in STUNT.

Hey Matt,

That was a PM that I was built about 10 years ago and just never finished. It was in the paper covered with clear stage so it was easier just to shoot that with auto primer, them Brodak paint's for base color silver and the yellow and lavender were PPG Auto Lacquer.
Then to keep it as light as possible and trying to get to the NATS with it, which is another deadline I didn't make, it was sprayed with PPG automotive 2 part clear.

I hear you and Grandpa are becoming "Building Machines". I guess we're going to see a lot of "New Ship's" this year.

Cheers and remaining yours in STUNT,

Bob

Hi Bob,  My Ares has its base color on now, gray.  Yesterday I started to layout the trim scheme for it on the plans.  Grandpa is building his P-47 that he designed in 1967.  Next week I will start my Oriental Plus.  No PA Bob, but an OPS .40.  We have a PA that might go in if the OPS doesn't work.

Hey there, Mr. '69 NATS!   I know this will be a show stopper, and the 75 will make it a great big ol' pussy cat.

Now, go light on the paint (this one needs to be under 80 oz, or you won't be able to fly it!), and never say another word about MY shop!  LL~  LL~  LL~

Hey Bill,

You probably think mine is messy, well as they say you haven't seen the half of it.
I find as I get older I'm getting sloppy and disorderly. Like your shop the clutter on my table lately and around the room is definitely out of control.

When I get to the paint stage I do have a tendency to clean it up. You remember when I was at your place the vacuum was always going. Well when paint is ready to go on my shop-vac definitely gets quite a workout.

Hope to talk to you soon. Is my USA One almost ready to pick up. I could use a trip to the Carolina's.

Love ya,
