$$$FOX 35$$
« on: January 01, 2010, 10:04:54 AM »
What's with this guy who's been trying to sell some Fox 35's on Ebay for $155-$165? He's been on there hawking them for a couple of months now.  Funny thing is...some dummy (certainly not from here) will problably cough up the cash thinking he's got a rare buy. It'll be more of a rare sale than buy.

Yeah I know what you mean...

The guy is called continentalhobby and although he does have some nice NIB stuff he also has some pretty crapped out looking stuff too. He has three pages of engines that pretty much litters the listings due to his gross overpricing. I checked his feedback to see if folks are actually buying his stuff and the last check was a McCoy 19 Lightning Bolt... three pages of stuff with one sold. I would think at some point he would start some auctions at reasonable rates and let it go where it will.  I am tempeted to send the guy an email but then I ask Why? plus I have sold some simular items and with his inflated prices it makes my $9.99 starting bid look mighty fine...

I just looked again, The last engine he sold was a Torpedo greenhead 09 for $65 and he got himself a neutral for not sending it... That was looking back since October 4 2009

I actually did send this guy a email and stated that his prices were way to high. I asked why buy a ENYA 60 from him that is used and missing parts for $235 when you can get a NIB one from ENYA for less. His reply is not printable due to language content. I figured after that he can go ahead and continue to list away and spend those listing fees.

It's not just his engines that are overpriced. None of his hobby/toy items are selling for the same reason. I wouldn't bother saying anything to him. He will figure it out himself and if he doesn't, oh well.

He said he has served collectors for 35 years. I don't know what he has served them but I think it must smell a little. He does list his phone number in his listing. I think he takes the cake for inflated listings. He currently has 1950 items listed his house must be stacked to the roof with this stuff.
I actually think he is trying to establish a value so he can have a FIRE sale and write this stuff off as a loss. VD~ VD~

Insurance fellows.  He isn't worried about selling them, he wants to get a value.  I haven't looked to see if he has a reserve or not.

Maybe his wife is making him put them up for sale, and he really doesn't want to sell them!  mw~ Makes sense, but is terribly expensive to list all that stuff.

Thats probably what I would do, if I really didn't want to part with my stuff, but was demanded to do so by the "Boss"...

That could be potentially true if he hadn't already run them at least 4 times that I know of. No reserve, just ridiculous "Buy it now" prices. Maybe he watches this forum because he has re-listed them all again?

I guess he must have an in with the bay, as they usually don't tolerate that kind of stuff.  But, then again if they are making money why worry.  Anybody want to buy some snow?
