So -- I know I was flying a 1/2-A Sig Skyray before 1982, because I was flying it behind my parent's house.
But is the Skyray 35 eligible for Nostalga 30?
-
Not sure, but I don't think it's quite 30 years old yet.

I think you're right. I found some Sig ads in the 1979 and 1980 Flying Models with their CL lineup -- the 1/2-A Skyray was in there, but not the Skyray 35. Oh well -- just one event today it is, then.

Not even close - it may have come along about 1990-91.

New kid on the block. Skyray have many useful functions. Even Carrier, not bad little model.

The Sig Banshee is OK and almost as easy to build.

Ask Mike Pratt, he will know if it is legal.

Hi Guy's,
The Skyray 35 was designed in the early 60, as a slow combat model. The Sig model was designed in the 1989 for Hazel to fly slow combat at the 1989 Nat's. There ware a few combat match's set up for people in the industry. Hazel flew against Riley Wooten (with our help) and she did pretty good.
The Sig Skyray 35 kit was was lengthened over the combat version, but wing area and airfoil were the same. At the time, there was a huge amount of excess short wood that needed to be used up. Hazel & Maxey told me to design a kit that would use up the short wood. She liked the Skyray 35, so without much of a fuss, (I wanted to produce a few OTS models) so that's what I did.
All in all, it was a fun model to design and produce.
Later,
Mikey
