Hi there,
I read of the following discussion and wondered if it is available on the web: -
Model Aviation, Dec 76;
"In this issue, Wynn Paul talks with Bob Gieseke about the mods he did to the various Noblers. Very interesting. It was continued in the Jan 77 issue."
Cheers, Malcolm (Cape Town)

I remember that article and he talks about all the flap mods he made. He mentions that the kit got it wrong also he tried 1/4" stabs but they didn't work as well as the 1/2" thick ones. I think there was two articles covering quite a bit. Also he said he liked the smaller 48" the best.

Thanks Guys,
This article is 34 year-old! But most likely still very relevant. Probably Bob has copies of these mags! The problem is finding these copies and the PT of scanning the pages in. I wonder if permission would be needed from Bob or Model Aviation?
I will wait and see if something eventually comes up.
Thanks,
Malcolm

You can read it on the AMA site. Later articles tell how he used the 48" wing at the worlds that he won.

I'm a modeller from Italy.
I started modelling 52 years ago going trough Free Flight, U Control and RC.
I'm still in love with aerobatic models and am building a Gieseke Nobler from Top Flite plans.
I'm not an AMA member so I wonder if I can see those articles you are talking about.
Can someone help me ?
By the way, does someone have any experience with an electrified Nobler ?
-
Hi there. I don't know anything about electrified Noblers....but I did have the article. Please check your email.
Many thanks.
If you have other article on classic stunter I would read them with great interest.
I have a lot of old magazines and plans but some models are missing.
P.S.
Are electric classic stunter a no-no in USA ?

Thank you for the reprint article. This is the kind of information that GN fans and Fox 35 fans can use from one of the best. The information on the mufflers/fuel/tanks is very interesting and useful. Muffler pressure to a conventional vent system explains why the vents on the pictures of Bob's Nobler looks like it does. The information on the 48" version is very interesting, seems Bob tried so many configurations you can almost build any numbers you want and Bob most likely tried it!! Interesting that several of these were full sheeted, by the time you added up all the additional thickness you get just about a 1/4" thicker wing. Seems it is very similar to the Olympic's wing. I wonder is if on the 48" version if he used 1/16" full wing sheeting instead of the 3/32". Since the Fox with a muffler would probably work better in the smaller lighter version.
Thanks again for this great post.
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, DennisT

It would be nice to have a laser cut kit available.
