« on: January 23, 2012, 05:34:36 PM »
Hi Jim
I am interested in buying your syringe. Where can I find info. about it as well as price? Also, will it work with Diesel fuel?
Thanks
Joshua

Jim, what material do you use for the o-rings in the syringe?

The syringe normally is fitted with a Buna - N rubber o -ring.  OK for glo, gas or diesel....    I have a silicone oring available for $1.00, but it does not like diesel or gas.  Also a viton oring for $2 that is supposed to be impervious to most everything....    for most people the regular oring is quite adequate, giving very good service....
Thanks
Jim

Jim.  I'm looking for a fuel syringe for gasoline.  Are yours glass or plastic?

The syringe is plastic of some type....   The standard one I sell is good for gas if you use fuel line that will tolerate gasoline....

One problem I've seen several times is that the delrin piece that holds the oring expands with nitro...   You might check and see that this piece is not binding in the syringe body.  Remove the oring and see if it is free in the syringe bore.   That is an easy fix with a slightly smaller diameter oring carrier piece.
If the syinge is not used for a period of time, typically it will lose suction about halfway up the syringe.   Leave some fuel in the syringe for a few minutes and it will normally then work fine.  The orings apparantly do expand with exposure to fuel and then shrink when not exposed for a some time ( a week or more ..).
I think the barrel may shrink, but I have rarely seen that...
Possibly a viton oring may be the solution.
Also, a big factor could be the fuel itself...   High nitro or a different oil....
Thanks

What is the warranty on your syringe.  Mine is a little iffy at sucking fuel.  I'll give the soak it in fuel trick a try a couple days before I use it next.

Oh, and I don't have the receipt as I bought it ohhhhh, bout when did you start making these?

I also need to talk to you about 4 strokes.  Just wanted to know if the design is the same as in the beginning and if maybe I should try a new oring after 10? years?

Mr Clean aka WR....
Great to hear from you again!
My prototype syringe says 2004....   Yes, after 10 ( or so...) years the o-ring might have degraded performance...
Let me know what you need...
Thanks
Jim

Next time I know I'll be in town I'll give you a heads up.  Might be a couple months.  I know better then to bother around contest days.  Will either get this one sucking again or buy new.  Not enough time to fly and be competitive but I get times when I can work some angst out in the front yard.
