Does anyone know of plans for a plane called "Outlaw". It was flown by Walt Prey from Van Nuys.

Lyle . . . contact Dave Midgely. He was tight with Walt and might have an answer for you.

I've seen Walt fly at Whittier Narrows a few times. The paint schemes on his planes were a site to behold and the planes looked huge.

Lyle,

Walt flew at our home field in Van Nuys. One of our guys thinks, based on your picture, that the plane might be a modified Dixon Charisma. Walt was known to have customized Dixon's kits. I haven't heard back from any other club members.

Walt was a great guy. Had several conversations with him. If you think his planes were cool, you should see the custom car finishes he did. Yeow!

When I lived in Woodland Hills I first met Walt at Supelveda field. Walt lived very close to me  and we frequently ran into each other in early evening when i went grocery shopping at neighborhood supermarket ( Pavilions at Victory Blvd & Vally Circle) and Walt was also shopping. I knew he was there when I saw his '57 Chevy Nomad wagon parked out front. We would hang out and chat for a little while and talk about airplanes. In addition to his "Outlaw" he had a magnificent Thunderbird ( I have photo of it) and another plane that might have been modified Windy Cardinal based on outline of the rudder. I have pic of that one also.
We lost touch when I moved out of SoCal in 2000 to return to Albany area.
I believe Walt passed in 2011.
I know Walt was very famous for his craft of doing amazing paint jobs on  custom cars and hot rods. If you google his name you can find lots more info. I know someone put up a detailed bio of his life and accomplishments.

Walt Prey was the person who got me back into CL stunt when I returned to the hobby. I was flying RC when I met him at Sepulveda Flying Basin. His planes had killer paint jobs.
