Walter Michael Prey ( 2-12-1947 to 12-24-2011)  was a legendary pinstriper and custom painter. He was born in Oak Park Illinois.  His most famous creation was a 1964 Chevrolet Impala called the Gypsy Rose. It still exists and is in a museum.

Much more of his life can be found on the internet.

Walt was a humble man and did not seek fame and was surprised at the attention He received from the public.

He did not receive a lot of attention in the car magazines and is not known to ever done an interview with a journalist. Walt never traveled far from Van Nuys and never owned a cell phone or computer.

Walt was well known since childhood for building and flying controline model airplanes. Perhaps his most famous airplanes were the Outlaw and the Gunslinger. Just as in the car culture, people in the airplane hobby marveled at the quality of his work.

Walt Prey was truly an artist.
