Sad News - Art Shaffer passed
« on: February 11, 2011, 03:39:04 PM »
I have been really out of the loop. I received my club news letter today and found out the passing of Art Shaffer. Of Shaffer's Hobby. His son Art Jr. Gave me some pictures from 1967 and the FAI team trials. Billy,Gerald Phelps,Dave Girke, Bob G are among some of them and as soon as I get my scanner hooked back up I will post them. It was very kind of Art to make sure I got those.

Oh Art Adamisin they young version is in those pics too.

This is a shock. During my 10 years in St Louis I was a member of the ST Louis Yellow Jackets. Our meetings were in the basement of Art's parents. His mother started the Hobby Shop, and his wife Shirley started the crafts section.

Art and Shirley were at our wedding when I married Linda. It will 40 years this April.

My sincere condolances to Shirley, and Art Jr. and the family.

Bob,

I'm very sorry to hear this.  Art was a great guy, super nice.  When I first started coming to St. Louis when Beth and I were engaged we made a point to go by the old shop as much as possible, I still miss going to the old shop.  Out prayers are with Art Jr and the rest of the family.

Sorry to hear the news.  While staying in St Louis for company schools I made it to his shop.  Was some real history hanging on the walls.  Never really got to know him.
