Rob Passley
« on: December 08, 2015, 11:30:49 AM »
I met Rob Passley about 22 years ago; He was living in Wichita and flying stunt with the Wichihawks controline club. He had attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in the early 1970's and had obtained his Pilot licenses and an Airframe and Powerplant license. At the time I met him he was a test pilot for Beechcraft in Wichita.

He left Beech after a few years, and moved to Tulsa to marry his fiancée. (She had a really good job!) He flew with the Tulsa Gluedobbers controline club for a few years and wandered off to fly R/C.  He was an Airframe and Powerplant Instructor for many years at Spartan School of Aeronautics, and retired late in 2014 due to health reasons.

He called me up a couple of months ago, and suggested that we go out to eat. We never got together, and I read in today's Tulsa World newspaper that he had passed on Saturday, December 5, 2015.

My first impulse was to call Marvin Denny up in Wichita and let him know, but I quickly recalled that I can't do that anymore.

Rob Passley was polite , helpful and enthusiastic. He was a genuinely nice guy.

I wish we had got together and went out to lunch.

The days grow short...
