This is truly a sad day for our C/L community. My condolences and prayers go out to the Miske family.

Sad to learn of this. It was John's origination of the OTS event which helped lead to the VSC. He attended one year, and it was a definite pleasure to meet him.

John was a great guy.....I think of him often and will miss him.

John was one of my closest friends. I have talked to him many times over the last few years. Our prayers are for him and Elaine. God speed my friend.
When he opened his hobby shop I gave him a framed picture of him, signed by about 50 people. I'll post the picture later.

I did meet John at VSC but didn't really have a chance to get to know him. He was a nice Gentleman and truly a great asset to stunt. His initial work to begin Old Time Stunt is truly a historical event within our chosen endeavor.
Mike Keville certainly deserves the credit for carrying the OT Stunt banner nationally with his ideas for VSC but without John and the beginning it might never have happened.
Truly John will be missed by many. Tight Lines and Fair winds to you Mr John Miske!

I never met John, but I am sure I would have liked him right off. He is like so many that have touched my life without even knowing it. If there is one thing I love it is Old Time Stunt, and John was a very great part of that. Many can carry the torch, but few light the fire.

A truly great guy , the entire stunt community has lost another great one. I remember visiting his hobby shop in Clifton and meeting him at the Lincoln Park field many times. He had a great influence on me to start flying Old Time Stunt, one of my first really good old time stunt planes was a scratch built Yates Dragon from plans John supplied . Thank you again John for being there for me I'll never forget you.

I think something that made OTS develop into the popular event that it is is that John stuck to his guns about the rules that the GSCB proposed. He didn't waiver when the Black Tiger and other non published designs were claimed to be OTS legal. I believe that that stubbornness was key to allowing OTS to grow and prosper. It was almost two decades after the first contest that PAMPA allowed their current eligibility. That early stability attracted many to the event, and PAMPA's acceptance of the current rule package was a good thing......after the groundwork had been laid.
Besides his OTS efforts, John was a rock solid supporter of the GSCB.....serving, I believe six terms as President.
His membership in PAMPA's HoF is well deserved, and plenty believe that the AMA should recognize him as well.

John's passing is truly sad for me. As a new entrant to Stunt back in 1985 John was very helpful to me and others in my group of friends. John sent us plans and copies of the OTS Patterns and rules. His wife and I both worked for banks and we shared memories together. My prayers and thoughts go out to her and to John's family. He'll be greatly missed.
