Title: Jim VanLoo has passed away
Post by: builditright on April 29, 2022, 11:26:56 AM
Sadly guys we lost another great one in our hobby (and his wife).

Jim VanLoo passed on February 19th after a battle with pancreatic cancer
and then Jim's wife Ruth passed away on February 21st.

Sorry guys, I know this is a bit late but I haven't kept up with any of my internet stuff.

Thanks for the information Walt. I actually got to meet Jim once, but it was at a sailplane contest. I was dabbling in C'L stunt but mainly flying R/C sailplanes at the time, and was competing in a contest in Higgensville, MO that Ace R/C used to put on, and Jim was there, but i forget in what capacity. I think he may have just been there to spectate, as I think he lived not too far away. This was probably late 80's. Some one introduced me to him and I think I was the only one there that knew who he was! Iwould have liked to have talked to him today to hear some "Chipmunk Stories!"
   RIP Jim!

What a shock.  I've Known Jim since the St Louis Team Trails.  Him and his Dad were flying F2C and I think speed also.  Would see them every team trials and NATS I attended.   His Dad saved me at a NATS when compression screw disappeared in my F2C plane.   They were a great family. :(
