Jack’s memorial service was held this morning in Beverly NJ.

Jack will be missed by many.

Obituary

John “Jack” Weston, 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 27.

Jack was born February 18, 1938 in Philadelphia and his family was a member of St. Anne’s parish. He graduated from North Catholic high school in 1956 and from there enlisted in the Air Force in 1959 where his assignment was in the field maintenance squadron where he worked on airplanes. After serving in the Air Force, Jack started his career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 38 years.

Jack was an avid skier and traveled as far as Austria and Switzerland for his love of this sport. In retirement, he returned to his 1st love from his younger years, building and flying model airplanes, and spent his remaining vacations with the club the Philly Fliers, where he participated in flying contests. He was loved and respected by the many friends he made there.

Life has many ups and downs, and Jack fought to overcome the down times. Jack was one of the dads who became as much a friend as a father to his daughters.  He loved dining out and having dinner dates with his daughters and their families. Jack would meet them at his most favorite spots:  the most often being the Penn Queen Diner and on special occasions, the Pub in Camden. Jack’s signature dessert to bring to family dinners was the Jewish Apple cake from the Penn Queen diner, a family favorite especially with his sister Cass. He was spoiled by his family and especially by his beloved, late sister Peggy.   In addition, Jack is survived by his brother Buddy and oldest sister, Rose, who were also so very dear to him.

Jack was very fond of his grandchildren.  Whether it be challenging them on the Xbox 360, taking them skiing or snow tubing, day trips to museums or Christmas shopping, so they could chose their own gifts, he enjoyed spending time with them.

Regardless of what life dealt him, Jack remained positive.  Jack suffered from Aphasia as a result of a stroke, and was involved in his speech group at the Moss Rehab Aphasia Center, helping others who, like him, lost their speech due to illness.  When he went off to live at the Marcella Center in Burlington, Jack vowed to become their best resident and they truly loved him dearly there.

Jack is survived by his daughters:  Regina (John), Rosemarie (Frank), and Suzanne (Karl); grandchildren: Colin, Erin, Domenico and Antonio, and one great-grandson: Colin, Jr.
