Frank Carlisle
« on: March 19, 2016, 01:13:48 PM »
Well, I have not been on the forum for a number of years now. I sure wish I was not here today. But I got a brief email from John Paris this afternoon to tell my my friend, coach, and mentor of many years Frank Carlisle had died last night. We have no details but Frank was hit while walking by a hit and run driver near Christmas. He came down thru the windshield and totaled the car. In true Frank style, he was very proud of that. The accident resulted in considerable brain trauma and intercrainial bleeding. Frank really fought to recover but I could see he never did make it back. The injuries he suffered prevented him from understanding a lot of things when strangers talked to him and his doctors were never able to communicate his condition to him very well, and the accident just seemed to knock all his wonderful patience out of him.

For the last number of years Frank had been flying regularly with Rick Sawicki, myself, and the Adamissins. He did finally give it up a year ago and preferred to just come out and launch, help others, talk to the RC pilots, and let me know he always enjoyed comming out to see if I'd crash something. He did really enjoy those.

The last time I saw Frank he told me he really did not mind if he died now. All he wanted to do was to be a good person so he could go to heaven. Well, he succeeded at that in spades.

This is the sorriest news that I have read in a long time. I knew and liked frank almost from the first time I answered a post of his on the district 7 web page. We finally got together in '11' at Brodaks and swapped war stories. Frank wasn't a conformist by any means and he lived a varied existence but I never knew anyone who enjoyed life more than he did. RIP old friend.

So very sad to hear this.  Frank was an original, one of the off-beat funniest people I ever met.  I last saw him, along with Bob & Cynthia Branch over at Rick & Kathy Sawicki's anniversary party.  Just picked up the conversation where we left off several months before, all in good fun.

I was looking through some old picture CD's I have from past Brodak Fly-in's and came across several pictures of Frank.  Frank was justifiably proud of his LA Heat, his Brodak Mustang was the single best example of that bird I have ever seen.  The Stunt-Fu and Minute Man were really cool original design ideas.  He was a blast to watch fly Balloon Bust using a Bi Slob.

I will miss him. RIP Frank!

Inasmuch as we are all separate and unique persons, Frank set the Bar at an All Time Height of Unique! I do mean this in a very positive way. What a treasure its been just to be able to call Frank my friend. I bought an engine from Frank the last time I saw him which was at the 2011 Cleveland Stunt Contest. He didn't have it with him but I paid him anyway. Frank sent the engine and filled the box with plastic flies! I didn't say a word about the flies, I still have a couple of them, and it drove him nuts! He had to call me to see if I even noticed his flies! At that time I acknowledged the flies and we both had a full and profound belly laugh over the flies!

Not a morbid memory but a most positive one of one of our most unique and fun fellow flyers.

I'll truly miss Friend Frank and know that he is now in a better place. RIP My Good Man!

With full and deepest sympathies to Frank's family and his many Friends.
