Another "building block" that the foundation of our hobby was built on. He might not have ever won a NATS, but if you read the magazines regularly you were a fan of his nice looking designs.
Fair winds and tight lines Mr. Sieverling!

Never met Mr. Sieverling, but loved reading his articles and watching the evolution of his designs. I have plans for his "El Conquistador" & "Phoenician", two of my favorites. He also wrote one of my favorite funny lines in his P-51 Mustang article, went something like this, "someone asked when the last time I had crashed a model. I said it had been awhile. Funny thing happened the next flight... To make a long story short, Mustang #2 was built."
Fair winds and tight lines indeed!

I too never met Clair personally, but his Phoenician design was a childhood favorite of mine. Sorry to see him gone.

I did meet Claire Sieverling. Following his control stunt career, he became involved in big time RC. I think it was RC Scale
Many decades ago I was flying a CL stunt demo at some RC event in the Phoenix area. Following the demo, Claire approached me and introduced himself. He was surprised and pleased I knew of him. He told me he hadn’t seen a competition like CL stunt pattern in many years. He was gracious and friendly. I have a weak memory but I recall Claire as a classy fellow. RIP Claire Sieverling
