Title: I just knew!
Post by: Matthew Brown on February 02, 2018, 08:57:47 AM
One of my earliest memories is we moved to a new/old house shortly after my 5th birthday. The first night in this house I had a dream that there was a Cox PT-19 in the attic of this house and that’s all I could think of for about a week. Finally convinced my dad to look up there. Of course no plane. At this point, I had never been exposed to model airplanes so no idea where this dream came from. It was 5 more years before I finally got a plane. Unfortunately it was a Testors/McCoy .049 powered plastic thing. I don’t even remember what model it was. Broke the bellcrank on first flight/crash. It took about a month to earn enough for a real balsa plane, the Lil Wizard. Used the engine out of the plastic Testors to power it and several more over the next couple years.
Pretty much been flying something ever since. I still don’t know why I have this love of model planes and pretty much everything else that flies.
I tried full scale aviation just out of high school but decided the costs and rules weren’t much to my liking. It’s been a great 50+ year love affair with hopefully many more years to go.
