Hi All, The SA Nats took place last week-end in Johannesburg at the Barnstormers club again. The weather was really good although a bit on the windy side. There were 8 entries in stunt and only one was engine powered. This was the ARF Nobler powered by a Brodak 40.....and the engine would not behave well. The rest of us e-powered types had no problems, except for me putting the same used battery back in my Newtron for my last round (old-timers disease!). The photo below of the stunters has 2 missing, both of them electric Eze-Pro's. One flown by Dennis Bird hit the deck in some turbulence and the other one by Colin Paine from Knysna went home with him when his wife suffered a heart problem back home. I'm happy to say that she is fine now, and Colin was given the opportunity to fly his 4 rounds before he departed to catch a plane home.
The pleasant surprise was from young Roston Dugmore jnr. who flew the Protron take-apart profile into 2nd place, narrowly beating veteran stunt flier Percy Attfield into 3rd place. In fact Percy donated the Protron to the Dugmore's, so this was a nice gesture on his part. Mmmmm.........getting beaten by one of your own planes??? javascript:void(0); I've include a pic of Rostie, as he is known to us. He is a very good pattern flier in fact and will be the SA junior member in the team for the Pattern world champs out here in August. It's great to see kids still enjoying C/L when they do have amazing R/C stuff as well. The other photo is of me with my wife Bokkie and the Newtron that I flew in Bulgaria. It's a simple design powered by an E-Max 282 on a 4-cell 3000 mAh Nanotech lipo turning an APC thin blade 12 x 6 EP. All the electric models are using my KR Governor timer system. I must be a bad influence of the locals.javascript:void(0);
