When programming my Phoenix 45 I noted a PWM setting called "outrunner" in addition to the 8, 12 etc khz setting choices. Should this be selected when using an outrunner? Motor is 750KV, 14 pole OS, 5C batteries, Hubin FM9 timer.

Also, I notice a wide variety of PWM settings in the setups being posted here, even for similar motors with the same number of poles and similar KV. What does it matter how often the pulse is sent to the motor?

I would not suggest using the "outrunner" setting. Just use the PWM and advance that is recommended for your motor.
Also, ask around here or look at the "list your setup" thread for folks that have used the same motor to see what PWM frequency and advance they used.
There is no arguing with success.
The outrunner setting from most all manufacturers is an attempt to do a one size fits all, and we know that this just isn't true.
