Bad News
« on: September 07, 2010, 01:46:30 PM »
I went to the Dr. today and he said that not all of my ribs have taken a set as yet.  He said I was still in danger of injuring my lungs if not careful.  He indicated that I was healing but slowly because of the large number of ribs involved.  According to him, it will be at least another six weeks before I can begin to do normal things again.  That my friends, kind of rules out Golden State for me.   Not a good deal for me but at least I have my good old friend Mr. Pain to keep me company.  I guess I am improving but just not fast enough to suit me.  I really want to come out and play!!!!

Best wishes and good safe flying.

Hi Roger,

That is a shame. We were all hoping you would be able to fly. I hope you are able to at least be there to cheer us all on to riches and glory. The contest won't be the same without your smiling face and good cheer. Maybe we could take the E motors out of your planes and rig them to one of those adjustable beds and then you would be able to move around on your own in a comfortable position. And then Howard could maybe use you as a judge, even if you are laying down on the job? If you can't make it there we will be sure to stop by, if only to sign your cast.  ;)

I know what it's like to be laid up with injuries, mine was from racing on skis at a speed waaaaay beyond my abilities. But like my wise pappy always told me: "getting sick or injured is mother natures way of making us appreciate our good health after we mend". Look on the bright side, Gary told me that you promised you would stop racing with the teenagers and that should go a long way in preventing injury to your other UNDAMAGED ribs!  :!

If you can at least come out that would be great, because we all know that without your coaching, your brother Gary can't even remember which maneuver comes next! I don't know if he can fly without you being there?  n~

I plan on being there Fri. AM to fly with you guys at your club field. It has been fun flying on Friday's with you guys the past two years, thanks for doing this for us.  y1

I hope you continue on your road to a swift recovery.

Warm Regards, Your friend,  H^^

Hey Rudy??????

Maybe I could ugly myself up and fly for Roger, probably wouldn't do as well but what the hick up. That way he could be in the contest?????? Its to bad cause his Strega is showing a lot of promise and I would love to see him walk away with first place again. Maybe that's why he wrecked his body, has afraid he couldn't win again????? I'll have to explain to him that's its a lot easier to fix a plane?????? Roger has always been a good sport and I'm afraid that the ones that fly in his class are the ones that are going to lose out. Remember both years someone crashed their plane and Roger took an extra plane and let them use the extra plane to fly against him. Not many people would do that, that's just my brother, wants to make sure everyone has fun.

Gary,
That was last year and that person was my dad.  After he stuffed his Cardinal ARF, Roger let him use his Smoothie and dad took 2nd.  Dad couldn't stop talking about it!  #^
I don't know if he'll be down for the contest this year though.  We'll see.

Thanks for the kind words guys.  I may be able to spectate at the GW but it won't be the same as flying.  As always, I will bring a good plane out in case someone needs a plane to fly because of a mishap.   To me, that is what our hobby is all about, having a good time and helping each other out.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

PS  Rich, I really enjoyed getting together with your Dad at our field and at last year's GW.
