This is probably one of those little tools which everyone knows about except me. b1
I recently bought a great little device which you plug into your packs balance leads and it proceeds to display the number of cells with a voltage reading for each cell (2 decimal places) and then the total pack voltage (1 decimal place). As someone who more than once has taken a pack out of a model and forgotten to mark it as discharged only to be faced with a number of packs and not be sure exactly which ones are ready to go this really is a godsend, best £3.99 (About $6.29) I have ever spent... Works with anything with balance leads wired in the conventional way. Lipo, Lion. LiFe etc.
Hey, I'm easily pleased. ::)

Yes it's a great tool but Hobby King also sells them, the only thing I find is the pins will only fit certain batteries, will have to make a harness or find out if they sell one.

Hi John, I am just as easily pleased by this monitor as you are! Brodak also has it as BH-1874 for about $10

Hi Larry,
There are several pin patterns out there, but fortunately for us there are only two that cover most batteries. Most of the meters come with the pin pattern for Hyperion type batteries (this covers most batteries in our E Hobby). If you use the excellent Thunder Power batteries then You can use the "Blinky" adapter, please see the link below:

The other thing you can do is use one of your charger balancer boards/adaptors. Here is a great link for these adaptors, excellent chargers and power supplies:

Your local hobby shop may carry the Blinky adaptor, and or adaptor boards. It might be in the Car section?
Here is a link that clearly shows which pin structure goes with which battery and also has the needed adaptors shown. The info is near the bottom of the page in the form of a table with photos:

PS: I hope you have fun at the GS, bring home a trophy for the ECL team! #^ ...... I hope to see you there next year.
PPS: To John, Thank you for listing this Subject. Your right, this is a very important tool that every ECL flyer should have.
Regards, H^^

I have one of these beauties and it came in handy one day when I flew a flight and pulled the battery off the plane and put it down next to the spare battery..... I began to discuss things with a flying partner..... I then went back to replacing the battery for the next flight.......... Darn, which one did I just fly....... This tool saved the day. I'm glad I have it. Glad you brought it up John.
