Several research groups are also using similar technology to produce electricity from methane.  Much easier to handle than hydrogen.  The idea is to make sewage plants energy independent.  Most of them produce enough methane to run the whole plant, if it is converted to electricity.  It would also be a good technology to tap into landfills, which produce methane, and even tapped out coal mines, many of which have methane in them.
