Title: Upgrade iCharger to HV.
Post by: Russell Bond on July 07, 2016, 11:49:36 PM
I have an iCharger 306b and want to know if I can upgrade it to charge HV batteries of 4.35v per cell?
I know I can adjust it to charge to 4.3v but I'd like to charge the batteries fully.

I have asked Icharger directly and they said no, only the Duo“s will support HV my friend!

From what I have seen on the RC boards is that Junsi (maker of the I chargers) refuses to update the firmware because Turnigy copied the firmware for their Reacktor series and they dont want to provide a free update to the Turnigy users. I have no idea if this is really true or not. If it is, I think its a underhanded way to get people to upgrade to their higher line of chargers when they really may not need to. In my opinion they should just provide the update to their loyal customers.

I agree William.
If I buy a charger for HV it will be Hyperion I guess.

Powerlab and Thunderpower also have chargers that can charge HV batteries. and they provide the updates as needed too. I like the I-Charger line and have had a few and I've recommended them to many satisfied people, but because of this, I will be steering people towards other brands of chargers that deliver the support promised when the charger was originally purchased.

Looks like copying solutions is illnes of future which can cost us new development. If people buy cheap copies, they will never see new solutions, because noone will do them :-P

... or we will pay 90% or product price for copy protection :-P

I was very surprised when I got cheap reaktor and I saw that it has identical firmware as my Icharger ... so I am also 50% guilty that we do not have HV firmware for ichargers ... sorry Russell :- ))
