Unplugging the Battery

Hi All,
   Just a quick question about the ESC/battery connecting plug.I have arthritis and I have difficulty unplugging my battery after the flight and removing it from the charger sometimes.I know the connections must be tight to prevent arcing but I have tried Dean's,XT-60,EC-3 and they are all a pain in the hind end to disconnect.Any ideas,tools or suggestions(Besides going back to glow) out there????Thanx,Jeff

You may try Anderson Power poles, they are easier to get plugged and unplugged, though they are a bit larger and more bulky,,

I've seen somewhere that somebody drilled small holes in each side of their Deans connectors, then used a snap ring pliers to pull them apart.

Or loop string through the holes and pull on the loops.  I like the snap ring plier idea, though.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Thanx for the tips fellas.Nescessity is the mother of invention and my dad is a mechanical engineer.I have him working on an idea and maybe the perfect tool still needs created.Until that happens Harbor Freight is a couple miles from my house and the snap ring pliers will have to do.Much better than tearing up an aircraft just trying to unplug the battery.Tips,suggestions and ideas for this yet to be created tool are gladly accepted.Jeff

You really don't want to use metal pliers around a battery capable of hundreds of short-circuit amperes!

Better to file some notches in both connector halves, to make gripping with your (insulated) fingers easier.

Hi: Guys I have been using a dab of Dielectric  grease  and working it in and out a couple times, have work for me with no problems.  n~ <=

In my days of RC playing I remember an individual with the connectors.  He had a string tied around each one so he could pull them apart.   H^^
