Title: Turnigy replacement?
Post by: John Rist on August 31, 2011, 08:57:01 AM
I am currently running a Turnigy 3548-900 in my scale LA5.  It swings a APC 11 x 5.5 EP at 10,000 rpm on a 4 cell Li-Po pack. It burns about 1600 out of the 3000 mah pack for a normal scale flight. I would like to upgrade it to a AXI motor.  What would be the appropriate AXI PN to replace this motor?

AXI 2826-10 (Kv = 920) is the usual 4cell AXI for stunt.

1600 out of 3000, or 2600 out of 3000?  If you're really using just 1600mAh, and you're not using the battery for balance, you can go to a lower capacity pack and lose some weight.

Get an AXI with a similar average power rating as the Turnigy, a similar weight, and a Kv of 900 or better (without looking at catalogs, that AXI 2826-10 may very likely going to deliver the goods).

I need the extra weight for balance.  Scale aircraft tend to be tail heavy (short noises big tailes).
