Thunder Power 2800mA Prolite X series
« on: February 19, 2018, 08:52:23 AM »
I dismounted a Thunder Power Pack 2800mA - 5S the cells are 2700mA.

The reason for the disassembly was that a pack detected a defect in a cell after 60 cycles so it turned to 4S.

Someone knew this information?

I would bet TP knows what they are doing.   The marking on the cell may be some kind of a minimum.  TP stands behind their products so I wouldn't give it a second thought.  As I understand it TP tests and matches cells in a pack so all is good in the land!   y1

Looks like they were over rated. I guess my 6s is the same? If you use cigarette lighter fluid or naptha it will melt the glue between batteries so you can gently wedge them apart.

I use fishing wire (nylon) ..

Well, that's very interesting..  As I went from the older G-8 Prolite 2700ma to the Prolite +  Just late last year, and was a little surprise the reserves capacity it has.  It went from a typical 14-18% end of flight discharge to 21%-24%.  which I have never seen 24% with the same set up when the G-8 batt was new.  maybe the 2700ma is really 2800ma.

About a month ago, I decommissioned a battery, TP 2800 6s.  Yep, the cells said 2700 on the side.  If memory serves, I had some 2700s,(not G8) before the newer 2800s.    My understanding was a cell internal change when the G8s stopped, part of the ongoing cell improvement, and/or production cost.

My guess is that some ideal test data will show the 2800 mah claimed, more thoughts here on the older capacity thread
