Thin APC's are back - the F2B Series
« on: October 03, 2012, 10:03:13 PM »
This all started with an observation by PTG that his airplanes flew their best with the original thin blade 13x4.5's; while other props worked well in general, the thing blade was definitely better.  Similar observations from Bob Hunt & Paul Walker proved compelling.  I wrote to my contact at APC and asked if they could make a special run of the original design THIN BLADE 13x4.5EP and to my surprise they said yes - but not until things settled down in the fall.  Over the course of several more messages APC decided to call these as the "F2B Series", destinct from the regular electric props.  I then asked if they would make 200 of the original thin blade 12x6EP's - and they agreed to that too.

So stay tuned folks, I will be getting a 200 piece samples of the THIN BLADE 13x4.5EP and the THIN BLADE 12x6EP, probably by the end of October and am hoping you are all as excited as I am to get the chance to get them again - and help take them off my hands!

Can somebody tell me in what way this is a better prop than the 12x6.5WEP.  I don't doubt the experts but prop selection is getting a bit confusing.  What part of the pattern is this prop going to help improve?  It seems every time I settle on a new prop another new and better prop comes along.  I have been quite happy with the 12x6.5WEP will I be happier with the 12x6 thin?  Non-expert mines want to know (that's me  HB~>).

Finally, Denny thanks for all the hard work you have done getting us the props we need.

Dennis,

I would like 10 of these when it becomes possible.  They definitely work better on my Sultan.  The 5.5's are OK, but but seem to lack the braking (not breaking  ;) qualities of the 4.5 props.  The 12 X 6 are a distant third choice; lacking overhead and overall performance.

Actually, I've never broken one on my current plane. I don't expect and problems with my new one,Voltron, either. I'm sure that some of the local flyer's will want some too and this will save on shipping.

Hey Dennis You have my PM, so that's a firm "put me in for" when it's possible.   Now, for You or ANYONE else for that matter;  Now that EP Stunt Ships swept the the first FOUR places (the entire podium) & then some at the World Championships this year in F2B,  How long does somebody think it'll be before someone/Company is making 2 and 3 blade (ULTRA THIN-CARBON-PUSHERS) and Tractors for use w/ twins for that matter, just in 3 blade and a couple sizes for those that would ever be needed.  What does anybody think???? (BESIDES THAT I'M NUTS LOL)

Jose:
YES.  I accept PayPal which is the easiest way to accept payment for orders from overseas.  I will box your order, ge the actual shipping costs then send you an email with the toal including shipping.  I have found the best value to be the First Class Parcel Post which usually takes about 7-10 days and is usually a reasonable price.

One more suggestion: If you think there are any other electric flyers in Spain who are interestd then make all your orders together and the shipping costs is usually less for one large order than it is for separate orders from each flyer.

UPDATE:
Recent note from APC indicates they will be making the thin 13x4.5EP & thin 12x6EP late next week, I think I will have them in my hands by late October, and hopefully shipped very soon thereafter.  I expect the 13" will be $7.50 and the 12" will be $6.  AFTER I take them to the Post Office I will email bills for the cost of the props and the actual postage.  I prefer Paypal or accept personal checks.  NO MONEY ORDERS PLEASE, believe it or not I have had trouble cashing these.

The response has been overwhelming espcially for the 13".  I have increased the initial "buy" from 200 props to 350, and should have some for you last minute shoppers.

Peter F: I have your order logged.  Please send me your shipping address to: dadamisin at yahoo dot com

Randy: I have you on the list, but do not not know how many is a "few"? Assuming that is more than a couple but less then a bunch - then maybe.  all seriousness aside, pick a number and please email me your shipping addy too.

THANK YOU ALL for your orders, that made it a lot easier to commit to the initial buy.

All,

What rpm do you turn these props?

Bob

Bob:
The thin blade 13x4.5EP usually runs around 9400-9500 RPM, the thin blade 12x6EP liked to turn around 8300-8400 RPM.
