Target rpm for APCE P 9x6
« on: October 30, 2013, 10:17:54 AM »
Guys,
Am working with an APCE-P 9x6 prop on my Stuka (34 oz) with a TP 2100 G6 4S1P. I had flown this ship with a MAS 9x7 3 Blade in the past but it would take the pack down to 1900 ish mah. This seemed to shorten pack life. I started to work with several props to reduce the amps from 19 on the 3 bld to 15 -16 which should pull only 1650 mah from the pack.

Question is what is a good target rpm for this prop? I've used wood 9x6 on IC engines and would launch at around 9400 which would be roughly 9700 in the air (4.9 lap on 59.5' C-C). I did some ground test and at 10K it pulls 19 amps same as the 3 bld. I am guessing that I should be able to go at around 9500 for a 4.9 lap on the 59.5' lines.

Has anyone used this prop? What rpm did you run?

Best,         DennisT

Did some short test flights yesterday with the Stuka and APCE-P 9x6 (59' C to C). The first set rpm was 9500, hit a lap time of 5.1, which was just on the edge of a flyable speed. I moved up to 9800 and hit 4.9 (19 amp draw) which was what I was aim for.

I also tested one of the "Quad copter" 10x5 carbon fiber pushers (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pairs-10x5-0-Carbon-Fiber-Propellers-CW-CCW-Multicopter-Quadcopter-1050-Props-/251359052884?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a862ac454). These props come 4 to a pack with two pullers and two pushers, about $28 for the four of them.  At 9500 it was pretty slow at 5.4, at 9800 it moved up to 5.1 (15.5 amps). I didn't get a chance to up the rpm, I think it will need to be around 10,200, should have plenty of room on the amp draw.

Hope to do some full flights next weekend.
