With the new Hubin programmer and (I think) FM-9 timer, where rpm and all the other parameters are set where desired, is it still important or even relevant to try to match battery volts to motor KV rating? For instance, I got 5s 3300 batteries for the 650KV Turnigy 4250, based on trying to achieve an rpm range around 10K. But with the new progammer and timer will 5s batteries work well with my AXi 2826-10 920KV motor? Or should I be shopping for 4s batteries with lots of reserve amps for the AXi?

KV to battery voltage to desired RPM will always have to be matched. The 5s battery is too much for the 920 kv motor at 10000 rpm. If you use the castle link program in demo mode you can actually come up with accepted combinations of what works and doesn't. Will Hubin explains how to do this a few posts down.
