Igor,

Great looking model!!

Are you flying it with that three bladed prop or is that just for the photos? If you are using it, what are the specs?

Good luck at the EC and know that you have fans here on Stunt Hanger rooting for you.

John

that prop is reworked 3bl 11x5 prop for OS max .46 ... it has reworked airfoil and adjusted proper pitch, lot of work and testing, but now it runs silent and smooth at ~11 000 rpm

Let me add my voice to the chorus: I like it!
So, Igor, I see that after looking at the foamy GeeBee all Winter, the aesthetic has rubbed off onto the F2B ship.
Does this plane have the same expo flap crank as its predecessors?
enjoy the new toy,

:- ))))))))))))))

exactly ...  ;D the planform is little modified MAX II with logarithmic unit ... it has larger stab and smaller elevator, still it goes very easy to corners and may be I will cut even little down from that elevator ... but for now I will stick with CG at 16% MAC, the previous which I had in Gyula was somehwre at 14% MAC or so.

but what is really different is side view of fuselage, I wanted model which will not be sensitive to side wind in turbulence and little bit cancel inboard moment of prop swirl on rudder, so far it looks well, we will see later, Czestochowa (place of the comming EC in Poland) has trees around, so it will be something like Landres or Sebnitz, both were places for which is MAX born, so I expect that it will work well there.

BTW those shapes and colors are little bit stolen from that small GB r3 and also colours are from the same kitchen, but it needed moddification for us and I must thank to my friend Tania from Bulgaria for good comments .. Tania, lurking? ... or not? :- ))))

Layout of trim colors look great !
 #^

What brand and pitch prop was it that you started with ?

just for record, that "kitchen" is Mirco Pecorari author of GB r3 and also that "stars" paint scheme which I modified for that model

Allan, it was 3 bl 11x5 ... I just modified airfoil and adjusted pitch

Beautiful model!!!!
Congratulations...

Thanks.

Igor,
Are you using the 6S1P A123 battery pack? And what motor.

Ship looks great I like the profile shape for wind conditions.

Best,    DennisT

Post by: Igor Burger on July 13, 2011, 03:07:20 PM
no, I needed higher voltage, so I changed 6s A123 to 6s lipo 2200mah, but I needed to add little weight to nose so now I have there 6s 2600, but I recharge only ~1900 mah

motor is axi 2826/13 running at ~11 000rpm

weight after trimming is 1780g

It must be the electric power as it seems people are thinking out of the box as te saying goes.  It is gorgeous.  Will not cheer you on as I tell the guys at the race  track, "Every time I start cheering one of them they break".   So I going to say to you and all the other competitors have a great contest. H^^

Thanks guys ... and girls :-)))

Report will come in 2 weeks, I hope it will work well, so far I am learning fly it, looks good, works well in calm and also in wind up to 9m/s, does not show any ill effects, now I must tune to its flying and we will see next week in Poland, it is too fersh, I have never been on any championship with 2 weeks old model, but hopefully I will tune up.

Regarding fuselage shapes ... it looks like good match, it stays fixed, does not move in turbullence, and I thing so fas succesfull. ... the rest is open for Czestochowa  H^^

Igor,
Congrats, Just one question. Is there any way someone can make those props in mass quantities? Would like to try a few.

So little update ...

As I already wrote, I needed to move CG more front. It is actualy at 15% MAC. It was relatively lot of weight, I expected nose heavy model, but opposite was reality. I was not able to move the battery front, because it needs little bit rework and I did not have time, since I finished it only week and something before going to EC in Czestochowa, so I replaced AXI 2826/13 by its heavier electrical equivalent SCORPION 3026/710 and I also replaced lipo battery 6s2200 by 6s 2600. So I had reserve in thermal properties and also in capacity, I was able to charge it in les than 15 minutes.

Prop is that carbon fiber 3bl 11x5.5 working at ~11000rpm at lap time 5.1s. ESC Spin 66.

The weight 1800g was OK for me as I expected flying in turbulent place on park place near stadion in Czestochova. But after all we flew on sport airfiled in Czestochowa in clean air, and I wold like to have something lighter, but after all it worked well :-))))

Any plans for, well, plans?  Or maybe even a build article someplace like FM that us provincial Americans can get our hands on?

It'll make shamelessly copying that fuselage profile ever so easier.

Please?

I have drowing in Corel Draw, I will try to separate side view to gif, fuselage for electric is trivial thing, two sideds two turtle decks and few ribs ... that is all :- )))))

Great videos Wlodek :-))))

Now I see much better all mistakes I did :-))))

just the noise is somehow strange, when I fly, I hear only that sssssssssssssssssssssss which comes from your video when the model is close to microphone. :-)))

Thanks Bob ... writing to SN? ... last time I needed someone to do it instead of me :P ... and drawing plans is also not my strongest side ... if I think about it, my strongest side is laziness :-)))) ... BTW Tania, do not yo know someone who can draw a plan???? :- PPPPPPPPP

The prize is......lunch with the Euro Champ!
Title: Re: something new
Post by: Igor Burger on August 19, 2011, 03:13:01 AM
xexe ... Keith it is not so simple, Tania traveled from Bulgaria to Czestochowa to see us, but unfortunately we did not find any sponzor burger king, we found only Mcdonals and KFC ... so after all we did that lunch you mentioned (that is a dirty trick ti say Tania that the prize is already given  VD~ ) in this IL18 restaurant close to contest site :-)))

she also tried to start engine, fortunately someone probably used oil from motor for making pomfrits and kerosine for heating, so it did not work :-))))))
Title: Re: something new

heyyyyyyyy :)))))))))))))) IGor it's not fair :P)))) and i do not want to start the engine i just like big props ;P)))))))))))))

and Keith Renecle  will be prizen :) if I ivited him to lunch :P  :)))))))))) because I am also champion :P

OK, OK, champion, so you are invited next year in Primorsko ... I hope Keith will come as well ... it is not so far from Africa :-))) ... BTW Africa is continent of lions like you :-))))
Title: Re: something new
Post by: Tania Uzunova on August 19, 2011, 04:25:16 AM
mm probably will be in Sofia, not in Primorsko ;) and it's good because the air conditions it's much better instead close to the sea for flying :) And little bit more choises for  nice place for lunch and dinner :) And about Afrika - 40 degreese in Sofia almost the same :) so waiting for you ...

I like the IL18 restaurant! Nice props too! If they used kerosene then I should have been there with my diesel .49 model. You can't waste good kero on pomfrits!

Tania, where we stay in Johannesburg South Africa, the temperature in summer is usually not more than about 30 degrees, but as you go further North from here it gets much hotter of course. In summer months at the top of our Kruger National Park it can easily be close to 47~50 degrees. (good thermals for gliding!)

My wife and I will hopefully be in Primorsko next year, so it would be nice to meet you.
