I saw an ad on RCGroups this afternoon for a new distributor of carbon electric props. This place supplies parts for multi rotor FPV platforms that are getting to be popular. I noticed that they have ccw carbon props available. The sizes range from 11x5 to 15x7.5 with many options in between. Just wondering if anyone has experimented with them. The only drawback is that they are sold in pairs of ccw and cw combinations. They also have some nice looking wooden ccw wide blade electric props.

I just noticed that several of the carbon props have hubs that are very thin and require 3 screws to mount to the motor. These may not work, but there are several 11,12,13,14, and 15 inch props with the normal hub designed for use with a standard 5 or 6 mm prop adapter.

Nice find! The props look like Slow Fly props - I think that is normal for the Quad-copters. If so the props will have relatively low RPM limits and probably flex a lot, though no doubt the thin CF's would be better than the thin plastics in that regard. The weights are incredibly light too - which I like, however they might not be up to task.
It also looks like (many) would not like being drilled out to 8mm for a normal prop hub.
While at their site I went ahead and sent them a note asking about the above and whether it is possible to get just the CW rotation versions. I will let you know what I hear.

See the post about the wood props. Those carbon props are the same props that Hi model sells. The 13x4.5 prop I was able to drill & ream out to 8 mm (actually the drill size is O). The prop is a exact copy of the APC thin hub and is really stiff. I hope to try it out along with the 14x4 wood props I got. They cost a bit more than Hi's but I hope the shipping is faster and less but if they deliver out of Hong Kong I doubt it.

Just did a run and got a estimate on shipping and costs. Seems that It's a bit less than HI Model and takes about the same time to get here. That's assuming the least expensive option is used.

I did see the ones that look like slow flyer type props. Some of them seem to have a larger hub and as Darrell said, appear to be very similar to the APC props. Please post back if you hear anything back from your inquiry.

I must have missed your post regarding the Hi Model props. I'll go back and look for that thread. Have you had a chance to try one yet?

OK, I'm stupid. I admit. The carbon props are listed with numbers like 1540 CF propeller. Is this a metric mesurement? How do you tell the length and pitch.

It took me a bit to find it in the details, but down in the description they give the diameter and pitch. The 1540 would be a 15x4. The weight is also provided for most of them. The 12x6 is listed at 12 grams and the 13x4 is listed at 18 grams.

A couple posts ago I mentioned that I had asked Foxtech whether these props were restricted to Slo-Fly applicatios and whether it was possible to get just the CW rotation versions. What follows is their response:
"dear Dennis,
the propellers are mainly for multirotors, so we sell them in pairs,
sorry we don't sell them in cw and CCW alone.
they are not only for slow flyers, 1150, 1245, 1340, are all rigid propellers for high speed motors,
but yes, they may not as rigid as some APC propellers for high speed motors."

I thought I mentioned about the props being sold in pairs only in the wooden prop thread. But looking back I guess I didn't explain well enough. Multi rotors are becoming popular here in the states also. Had a couple of guys looking for pusher APC park flier props. Before he got the word pusher out I had to tell them they didn't have them. But at least they checked with the LHS first! Here are pics of the props. And the wood props are sold individually.

Went back & re-read your posts in the wood prop thread and you explained the CW/CW pairs just fine. I presume (dangerous word) that FoxTech was a different outlet then HI, however it appears that the product offerings and (per their email to me) (un)willingness to separate the props is the same. Too bad. While the are really not THAT expensive I hate the idea of buying 2 props to get 1. I guess the best way around it is to start building TWINS!
Did you get a chance to fly the HI 13x4.5 yet? If it is truly a clone of the APC then it could get a LOT of attention.

I got a few flights using a Pletty 20-16 and the KR Gov Timer. Jury's still out on that one Haven't tried full flights yet. Have to wait till this weekend when I fly my Nats model. Prop seems good so far I have a sneaky suspicion about the rest of the combo. But that's a story for another thread. <=

Cure to the CCW props is to sell them to the backwards flyers(CW). Even tho it has been pointed out the CW flying was done first many many years ago.
