Simple timer - just start, full power, time flight
« on: September 24, 2025, 08:11:22 AM »
I like straight forward easy to use stuff. I have been using Fixed RPM mode on my Castle Creation ESC's in control line mode to set the flight rpm. I use the old Ztron timer to do the motor start delay (20 sec) and flight time. The thing I like about the Ztron timer is you can set the flight time quickly with nothing more than a small thin blade screwdriver or stick. Simple and fast.

Ztron is no longer making timers is there anyone that makes a very simple timer that would just delay start, full power, time flight?

Best,   DennisT

Add RPM and you have an FM-9.  For our purposes I think that this is about as simple as it gets.  Problem is the programming box is expensive.

There are a host of simple ESC's out there but not too many cheap timers.

There are various Hubin timers with those features.

The Bluetooth adjustment method on the Climb/Dive timer works really nicely and is very easy to navigate.  Program the c/d timer with your phone.

Laser-cut, "Ted Fancher Precision-Pro" Hard Point Handle Kits are available again.  PM for info.

I have had good luck with KR timer.  It's easy to program and controls RPMs.  Total cost is low because it works with cheep ESC.  Brodak is the current US distributor

FYI - The Climb_and_Dive timer is now shipping fully assembled.  The only soldering required is the two motor RPM sense wires to your bullet connectors.

Electric flight requires you to set at least three parameters: the start delay, the motor RPM, and the flight time, in addition to the START button for each flight.

The most minimalist electric flight option is to use a pistol-grip or stick-type remote control.

When I designed my RF TIMER with remote control, I tried to make the setup as easy as possible.

A simple board with four buttons: "+," "-," "mode," and "reset."

Connect the configuration board to the RF Timer and connect the battery. Use the + and - buttons to adjust the flight time. + adds 30 seconds and - subtracts 5 seconds. You choose the "mode" to use as an automatic timer with a 30-second delay or as a remote on/off control.

With the motor running, use the same + and - buttons to adjust the motor RPM.

You'll see how simple it is to set up.

Is that the twin version?
