SIG Buster Electric
« on: September 28, 2019, 10:23:22 PM »
Hello all,

I was donated a basic airframe for a SIG Buster, mostly constructed, poorly finished and never flown with IC engine mounts

As we needed a new trainer for some younger flyers I decided to convert the Buster to ECL

Motor BM2409-12 1400kv approx (reversed shaft)
Red Brick 20amp esc
APC 8x4E propeller
Brodak FM-0c Timer
Turnigy 1000MaH 3cell lipo battery
Home made arming plug (retrieval and pit safety)

Minor changes to basic airframe to mount the electric motor, cloth tape elevator hinges, new undercarriage and paint in red, bcuz red goes faster :)
New control system, carbon fibre pushrod, and hand cut decals to finish it off. It looks okay from a distance!

Checked all electronics work, motor rotates correct direction etc
First motor spin up to revs, collett comes off the shaft and propeller goes flying, damaging the nose :( doh

Not flown yet... will try on 42foot 10kg spiderwire lines near future

Enjoy!

Looks like a fun little plane. The only suggestion I have is to remove the arming switch and save the weight. On a profile there is no need as the battery plug is always accessible and easy to plug and unplug. On a full fuse plane with an internally mounted battery that plug is absolutely necessary.
