This year I took Andy Borgogna's RSM P-51 up to fly at the Golden State Championships. It was flown in Advanced. With it I scored my first "over 500" point flight!
See the scoresheet! #^ ;D (051) (PE**)

Way to Go Larry & the Mustang & Andy too!
-
Congrats Larry!

Paul Walker, Bob Duncan, Shaun Chung, (two other guys I can't remember) and I were flying electrics! 6 out of perhaps 30 models! Be afraid, wet dudes, be very afraid! VD~
Looking at the scoreboard, Phil Granderson was definitely in the smooth and quiet camp. Can anyone let us know who was the 6th guy, it just doesn't come to mind.

Nice job Larry.

Way to go Larry. Where was Andy? H^^

Painting his living room, I think. :'(

To the question "Where was Andy?", he was and still is painting in an attempt to get the house ready for a large family Thanksgiving Dinner. That said, I am very proud of what Larry did with the P-51. The intent of this plane was to give "first timers" a chance at success with electric. Eric and I wanted a low cost package that you can take to the park and practice, practice, practice! Which, by the way, is exactly what Larry has been doing. By the scores he racked up I think it really paid off. ;D
To add to what Larry said, "Hey wet flyer we are here!" and we aint going away.

Ditto on what he said!!!!!!!

Having split my hatband about flying over 500 points, the real intent of this thread was to show that a very simple, small model can carry you to a pretty high level competition. You really just need to learn what the pattern really is, and work to make it look like that. Size, Shape, Intersection and Bottoms. Get those right and you will be killer in competition.
Another goal was to try to show that ELECTRIC is HERE!
BTW, if I had built the model myself to my usual standards and gotten appearance points (12 ish), I would likely have come in 3rd, not 9th. The competition at the top of that event is pretty close in points. First was only 17 points away, 14 of those for appearance!

The P-51 strikes again -twice! ;D
Andy Borgogna won Sportsman Profile and Warren Walker took 2nd in Competitor Profile with the model at the Charles Mackey Open contest yesterday!
Eric Rule has a bonafied winner with this model. He offers it as a kit alone in either gas or electric versions and also has an entire package with all the electric goodies available.

Will that gaurantee me to be a winner??? LL~ LL~ Really only if I could fly as well as you two do. H^^

"Will that gaurantee me to be a winner???"
Can't promise that Doc, but I do promise to provide any support you need in getting the electrics set up right. We also have the CG zeroed in and as Larry said it really does fly nice.
