Finished up my PDK Ringmaster 593. I purchased just the wing kit from Pat and did the fuse/tail from "on hand" stock.
Fuse is a build up profile at 3/4" wide. Lengthened the nose 1 1/4".
Cobra 3515/14 950kv
4S 2700 Zippy Compact lipo
Generic 40A ESC from eBay
Hubin timer
13x5.5 EP cut down to 12" APC prop
Monokote on wing and tail
Rustoleum on fuse , fin, and wing trim
.015 by 63' eye to eye lines
46 1/2 oz ready to fly with 3/4 oz tip weight.
I should have only lengthened the nose by 3/4" as I had to add 1 1/2oz tail weight to get to 16% CG.
It took 4 1 minute flights and 2 5 minute flights to get the Hubin timer values set so I could use the throttle compensation mode to give me 5.2 second lap times through out the flight. Was very easy to do. The 40A eBay ESC at $13 delivered was a gamble but looks like it will work out fine with this setup. I think a very good setup for sport flying!

Very nice! However I thought the big ringmaster was a 576 that could be built with or without flaps.. Is there a bigger one at 593? My 576 has flaps.

John,
Pat King has a kit that is 125% size. Thus the 593 wing area.
Flaps on a Ringmaster? Sacrilege I say! :)!

Who kits the 1000?

Ringmaster envy?
Motorman 8)
Ha!
The 1000 was built from Pat Johnston plans by Larry Marx.
Pat King kits an 850 and the 2X, which is a whopping 1536 squares! Pics are of John Stiles

Dave, sorry to wander on your thread. Beautiful model. A lot of us are passionate about big ringmasters!!

No problem Dane!
Thank You!

The Lafayette Esquadrille has an OS-90 four stroke powered 2X sized Ringmaster (we call it the RingMonster). With that much wing area it floats on landing and it flies at 1/3 power with that .90 sized four stroke. We have 2.4 Ghz throttle control on the beast which makes it very managable. I do have to use my trailer to get it to the flying field however....84" one piece airplane, what were they thinking?

That's just gorgeous, Dave!

Thank you Bob! Very kind of you.

Cool Ringmaster!
You could lose an ounce off the nose by switching to the Badass 2820/910kv.
The Badass 2820/910kv is rated for much more continuous power and is 30g lighter than the physically larger Cobra 3515.
