Title: Rimfire 15 on 4S

I'm putting my new plane together and for nose weight reasons I'm thinking of using a Rimfire 15 (1200 kv) instead of the Scorpion 3014-104 I was originally planning to use.  I can save about 0.9 oz in the nose.  Any issues running the Rimfire 15 on 4S?

Yes, 1200kv is too fast for 4S.

but you can save MORE weigh using 3S on it!!!

Looks like I'll go with the 3S.  Just didn't want to buy another set of batteries if I could help it, but they are a bit lighter as you say.  What do you fellows think of using an AXI 2814-12 rather than the Rimfire on 3S?  I have one sitting in an unused plane that's available.

Back up a little:  I just checked the Horizon site and they show the Power 15 as a kv=950 motor, which would be perfect for 4S.  I could not find a 1200kv version - (maybe I did not look hard enough?)

The AXI 2814-12 is a 1390 kv, that is clearly a 3S motor.

It's a the Rimfire 35-36 - 1200.  You apparently used one on 4S a few years ago.  I know the KVA is high for 4S but I saw you used one and was wondering if there were any issues.  My question about the AXI is what would be the motor of choice on 3S, the AXI or the Rimfire?  Plane weighs about 37 oz.

I have a Rimfire 35-36-900 on 4S in my Swinger.  Motor runs fine with an 11x5.5 APC.   As for the RImfire versus the AXI it would depend on your prop.  THe 5.5 pitch would match up well with the 1200 kv, the AXI at 1390 would do beter with a 4.5" pitch.
